I went to the "holding caves" without Fenris. I tried completing the quest without Fenris. This, to put it plainly, does not work.
Unfortunately, my autisaves are now all in stages of this quest.
I would like either:
A. Help accessing the console on the PC steam version (instructions on the wiki don't seem to work) to bring Fenris into the party
or B. help on how to recover an old autosave. I kno wsome games have .bak files or something where you can change the extension to recover your save for great justice.
thank you very much for your assistance

Can't you just re-enter the cave after adding Fenris to your team?

If you're on Win7 you can look up older versions of folders and roll back to specific date. Right click a folder and click restore previous version and hopefully one of the ones saved by the OS will be convenient for you.

err. and on windows vista? will the latest patch help?
this is kind of game-breaking. I'd rather not have to restart the chapter. thanks again

if I could access the console, I could bring Fenris into the party, this should solve all my problems. but the instructions on the DA wiki haven't worked for me! I am using the pc steam version.

Possibly try in the Mods forum and see if anyone has a way to open the console on Steam version

Is there a way to do it if you aren't using steam? I'm having the same problem.

For steam, just run the game exe straight with the -enableconsole issue. Do run it from steam. At least that is what I had to do for DA:O.
steam\\common app\\something\\dragon age 2\\bin_ship
should be where the exe is. Make a shortcut to it, edit the shortcut and add -enabledeveloperconsole to it.
So it looks something like
"c:\\program files (x86\\steam\\common app\\something\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole
I don't have steam version this time around, so no idea if that still works.
