Is the level cap really 50??
Im level 24/25 and already feel uber powerful.
I cant see what use there would be in having an extra 25 spells to cast.

Well you're not going to much more than that level legitimately.
Presumably there will be some DLCs that allow you to gain a few more levels. Perhaps if you unlock specialization number 3 there would be a point in having more spells available.
From the point of view of warriors and rogues, you can always get more passive buffs. That's never a bad thing.

I've always presumed they were going to add new specializations when the DLC are introduced.

Same here. 24 with all quests I could find completed. There is a potion to increase level by 1, but I never found the resource you need to make it. I've read that it requires agreeing with Isabella at one point where I simply said no.

Im level 24/25, cant say I have completed all companion quests etc.
But what Im saying is that im a 24/25 mage, and I feel like a flippin god.
I can be attacked by Legions of Templar, and I am usually able to fend them off without having to get back up from my team.
eg
Arcane Shield
Force Mage Fort Buff
Healing Aura + buff
Fire Storm
Tempest
Gravitic Ring & Pull of the Abyss
These things make you indestructible.
The only exception to this, is when being attacked by shades and undead who have knockback resist.

First DLC is going to probably have guys who'll look at mages say, "No!" and suddenly you can't cast spells (for a set duration).
Actually, I've noticed the templars have a lack of "No magic!" abilities.
