I thought Merrill grew up with the Dhalish? They certainly did not hate her, nor did she have enough contacts with humans to live amongst those who hated her.UltiPup wrote...
Merrill is naive, not immature. And why not? She has spent her entire life amongst her people who hated her. Shy and defenseless, she is dependent. It all makes sense. Each character behaves accordingly. These are strong characters and terrific romance stories if you even tried.
She tried to fix the mirror (after DAO Origin) and was contacted by a Demon. Believeing she can control the demon and not be controlled in return (she had the conversation saying I know what the dangers are, it won't happen to me) she took the deal. Learned Blood Magic in an attempt to cleanse the mirror.
When her actions came to light she became ostricized.
Though she was never social to begin with, she is definitely NOT naive. She may be ignorant of the interactions of the world, she is not ignorant of right and wrong. She simply have the mentality that children have - I am invincible, what I do cannot be wrong. Which caused the death of her entire clan (in one possible outcome, which happened to me. I didn't think telling the truth would be a point of no return.)
Even after the death of her entire clan, she still cannot take resposnbility and say I put us on this path. Instead she wails on the fact that why didn't the people listen to her. She still believes she is the center of the universe and that people should bow to her whims instead of her listening to those who are older and wiser. That is teenager immaturity at its best.
That is exactly what she was in the beginning, and that is still what she is at the end. There is little to no growth. At least in my play through.
Did you confront her about her actions or comfort and reassure her?
