Visual Add Item

vaddi.zip

Extract to Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age 2 (retain directory structure), alternatively, drop additem.erf into Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age 2\\packages\\core\\patch.

Open console:

runscript vaddi [filter]
runscript vaddin [filter]

You'll note that there are two scripts:
- vaddi - filters on file name (ie, runscript vaddi level will match gen_im_cns_pot_level_01.uti (Maker's Breath))
- vaddin - filters on item name (ie, runscript vaddi apostate will match things like Apostate Staff, Apostate's Courage, Apostate's Robes, etc).

vaddin is much slower since it has to create every object to match against it.

There is an upper limit of 100 items to be created (I'd rather not let the game create 1000+ objects and slap them all in one container for you to peruse, heh).

This was created at SapphireFire's suggestion.

Awesome! I very much appreciate that you took the time to mod this.

I'm going to try it out right now, and I'll let you know how it runs. =)

It's an extension of the "additem" mod. If you type in the commands, the items will appear in a list (similar to your storage chest) and you can select the one you want in-game.

I tried it out in-game. It works great and runs smoothly. The command "runscript vaddin" shows the real name of the items (instead of their code names) so things are much easier to find. Excellent work, Thought Process.

So do you need this AND the additem mod, or just one or the other?

Either one, this one is presumably easier to use.

Awesome, I'm so gonna give me the two armor upgrades I'm missing because of bugs and quests I don't have access to...

I noticed you can get your companion armors using this as well. Including Carver's Grey Warden armor. The only problem is that they show a restriction for that companion, but I believe there's a mod out there that can remove such restrictions. I'll have to take a look.

Very well done Thought Process.

I am correct that you need to know the name of an item, or at least part of the name in order to search for it?

So using "runscript vaddin dagger" would give me a list of daggers to choose from?

What would i need to type in the search for things light armour for rogues and daggers?

It would give you a list of items that has "dagger" in its name, which most daggers do.

For armor, it depends, since not all armors have the same name. Unless you know the specific name of what you want you'll have to do it by trail and error.  I noticed that "runscript vaddin robe" adds most of the mage's robes. You might want to try "runscript vaddin armor" and see what shows up.

damn... with this I found that the second gift for Merrill obviously does NOT exist, as the script can't find anything even remotely close to "Memento of the Dalish" when using "Memento" or "Dalish" as the filters... Bioware needs to patch this, and fast.

It is indeed my good sir. Got done with that quest not too long ago.

Anyway, nicely done with this mod, it's an awesome tool.

This is the most amazing mod ever, using it, i was able to add a few of the DLC items to my character without having to unlock them (AKA Dragon age legends, preorder DLC)
thank you so much.

When I launched Dragon age 2 for a second time, it cannot detect items no matter how many different filters I put it, such as Helmet, champion or boots.

Thanks you two, I did not yet check exactly which Item I would have gotten from that quest, since I couldn't find the giver of it.
If I can now sort out the bugs with Merrill's quest, then maybe I can put it to good use...

I'm having a similar issue. First time I launched with it, it just couldn't find any items no matter the script or input. When I launched DAII again, now the command doesn't prompt anything at all.
