Prevents enemies from activating abilities for 20 seconds it says, this would, ironically NOT be best against mages, but against assassins imo. If it actually works against all classes`s abilities.
Does Templar silence prevent enemy assassins from using stealth?

Additionally, if you have whirlwind you can knock them out of stealth when they vanish if you miss the silence.

Any type of aoe will hit stealthed enemies if they are within range.
