Hmm, I think the humor is very well present and plentiful. Sure, the characters are not as deep and thoroughly displayed like in DAO and thus this kind of humor mostly falls flat, but I have to admit I practically falled out laughing from my chair when the Dwarf hazzled with the Arishok about his deal and the latter just went: ... No.
It was hilarious. And most of the rest is more hidden humor as I experienced it, no licking the lampost in winter humor (save for Isabella), but more like companion snark, a good bit of ingame irony and lampshading.
I already had some good laughs!

They got us to spend $60 on this game. I bet they're laughing at that.

In all seriousness, Isabella's interactions with Aveline were the funniest parts of DA2.

Averline quest: The Long Road

I laughed even when there were no conversation for a minute.

I actually appreciated a lot of the banter in DA2 moreso than I did in DA:O, and found myself chuckling quite a bit at some of the tete-a-tete between members. In fact, I've frequently found myself building my party based less on stats & skills and more on individual character personalities, which I think is a displays a huge success on the part of the writing team.

Like others, however, I found that on several occasions the purple-masked "Snarky Hawke" option actually wasn't all that funny. I don't think that choice was so much meant to be the "ha ha" dialog, though; it strikes me more as a sarcastic or slightly peevish response...for when you aren't exactly pleased, but the conversation doesn't merit a verbal slap in the face either.

Overall there have been a number of real comedy gems in this game, and I've been very happy with that. To each their own and all, but I personally think the humor feels less stilted stereotyped this time around.

I laughed at the part where 'Bella was talking to Bianca.

I don't recall what was said, exactly, but it was hilarious...

Varric: "Stop it! You're confusing her...and me."

[Quote]Edit

Also, when Varric calls his brother a son of a **** and interjects an apology to his mother before completing the sentence.

I couldn't stop laughing during Varric's fantasy scenario in which he confronts his brother. "You're strong and handsome and so very smart!"

Are you refering to the awkward silence that Hawke and that guard have in the pub? I laughed pretty hard at that.

Varric became my favorite character after that. That was awesome.

I thought there was some crazy funny things said when I put certain people together. Anders and Aveline's talk about sex was pretty darn amusing. I actually laughed with is rare for me with video games.

I think the questline 'Long Road Home' was one very funny questline, and was really well written.

As far as Banter one of my fav's was when asked by Varric to go back to his Brother's mansion and investigate the reports....."You're a mage, you must know something about weird ****..you'll figure it out!" Just the way he said this had me cracking up. I think Varric was really funny throughout the game without even trying to be. Great character and very good writing on his part.

When I first played that my jaw dropped because I hadn't realized that Varric was clearly the strongest DPSer in the game! That was a pretty clever thing Bioware did there. ;)

Play the game as a pissed of male Hawke being constantly rude to everyone and you'll hear some classic one liners.

I like the look Cassandra gives him after that. And when she accuses him of lying he says "Look, we fought, found my brother and it was awkward. What more do you want?"

So far, I've seen a lot of lines that cracked me up, but it seems like a different kind of funny. It seems like these characters are more serious about the situations at times, but to me, it makes the funny moments even funnier. It feels a bit more realistic to me.

I do miss having so much wisecracking from Anders, but from a character development/writing aspect, it makes sense.

I don't have a funny line offhand; should start screenshotting them (I usually have dialog text on). :D

I never really laughed at any Origins humor, didn't think it was funny. However with DA2, I laughed at pretty much all of Merrill's party banter, and many other things. I personally think DA2 is > than DAO when it comes to humor.

ISABELLA (to HAWKE): Don't tell me you haven't wanted to slap me at least once!

VARRIC: Yes.

MERRILL: Yes--Wait, what are we voting on?

There were quite a few humorous lines. Varric and Aveline were pretty amusing while in the party. I think it was more subtle in some cases, but the humor was there for me.

I thought the humor was still there, in abundance, in fact. I felt it just was more subtle and less 'THIS IS THE PART YOU LAUGH AT' than in Origins. I loved Origins' humor, don't get me wrong, but it just feels more naturally implemented this time.

I know a lot of people will feel the opposite way due to intent icons telling you what's meant to be humorous, and that's perfectly understandable, but I think YMMV applies here. It wasn't just Hawke's dialogue that provided LOL moments either.

For me, anyway.

I can appreciate the style of humor in both DA Origins and DA2. It was a little darker and dry in DA Origins but it was there. Alistair and Ohgren had some funny lines especialy with Morrigan in your Party. Was kind of funny how Alistair and Morrigan would get off talking trash to eachother, they clearly enjoyed it. Ohgren was hilarious with any female in your party pretty much as he had no shame in making perverted comments in public.

The humor in DA 2 is a little more...Zena Warrior Princess-ish. Like Bruce Campbells character, the scoundrel of a rouge that hides behind witty sarcasm to never reveal his true intentions or feelings. Or maybe a bit of Captain Jack sparrow influence is a better analogy with the whole pirate direction they took with Isabela. At least thats my take on it.

Like many have said, the humor's there... it's just different. And the banter isn't ALL humorous, which may be why some don't think DA2 is as funny as DAO. I, personally, liked the change. I miss my old companions, especially Zevran's banter which I always found hilarious, but the new group is really growing on me.
