I haven't been playing the game that long, but so far I like most of the humor. The only character I have a problem with is Anders.Where did his sense of humor go compared to Awakening? Is it because of his special condition? Or maybe life has hardened him a bit?

Snarky Hawke: "How about (something dumb)?"
Now-Irritated Side Quest NPC: "How about the smart-mouthed Fereldan gets slapped across the face?"

*Hawke finds Sandal*
Sandal: Boom!
Me: Come on, say it.
Hawke: *looks at ogre* How did you do that?
Me: Come on, little dude. Say the line.
Sandal: NOT enchantment!
Me: :pinched::happy:
Whoever wrote that bit:

There is some fantastic visual humour in the cutscenes.  Hawke+Sandal+ogre is my fave.

One piece of dialogue I like:

Donnic: So this route seems pretty quiet
Aveline: Yes, and it's a very nice night for this evening.

That quest was nothing but hilarity.

I wasn't laughing much either like the OP. My first PT was as a female rogue and well...her party was Aveline, Fenris, and Anders. No humor going on there...not really. Not at all? I had a diplomatic Hawke too. All that was interesting was her Anders rivalmance and that ended super badly. I felt so bad for them. Total bleeeeeeh.

Now on my 2nd playthrough my Hawke's a humorous mage. SOOOO much better. Can swap out people much easier. But still not as funny as DAO. I think if the companions bantered with Hawke more, it'd be funnier (especially if you have a humorous Hawke, that'd rock). Plus, Carver's brattiness helped lighten the mood too. I teamed him with Fenris and Varric. MUCH more fun.

I laughed a lot more than I did in DAO. And I laughed quite a bit in DAO.

I have to disagree with this thread. There is plenty of funny dialogue in the game and it's very enjoyable.

There was a lot of funny lines (had Varric in party constantly), but with the poor playing experience I just wasnt receptive to them.

Some of the 3rd Act NPC Dialogue got a grudging laugh.

Paraphrashing;

Guy On Docks: 'We'll never get this done on time'
Girls in bar/brothel: 'im getting a new hairdo' - 'you should youve had the same one for seven years'
and a few others.

I honestly found there to be a sense of humor. Yes there's some dulled down with the darker mood of the story, but it's still there.

DA2 as a game has many most some things not on par with DA:O, but the humor is not one of them. DA2 is far far funnier. Way too many good examples in this thread and thats just scratching the surface.

Witty Hawke is also pure win. I bounce around depending on the situation so I've missed a few but watching the wife play where she gone pretty much 100% witty responses has me in stitches.

Apparently David Gaider doesn't have one, he said this was a great game with a straight face.

DA2 actually makes me laugh. I was never really impressed with "The cake is a lie." meme references.

Okay, I'm confused. When the heck was DA:O a sitcom? There were plenty of jokes in this game, but it's true that some characters weren't funny, though it'd be hard to find Fenris' life story to be fruitful ground for comedy. But now that you mention it, even Sten had a humorous side that came out at the game went on, where this game had the characters become more and more serious toward the end. Of course, in the first game you were ENDING the Blight. In this one you're unwittingly starting a world wide war between the Chantry and mages.

I found the humor to be fine. It was less in-your-face than in DA:O (or previous BioWare games, like KOTOR). But it was certainly there. I enjoyed it. And as you can see by my sig, I like me some jokes.

Although I do feel a bit heartbroken about Anders.

I personally found DA:2 way funnier.

Merril, Varric, Isabela... The banter was just hilarious at times.

Yeah, if you haven't laughed your ass off (in a good way) during Dragon Age II, then you haven't been playing Dragon Age II.

We all had a good laugh playing DA:O didn't we? If we didn't laugh along with Alistair we could at least cackle as we let the fool talk himself into being carried off in chains. And Shale, Zevran...

All we haters most likey would have been quietened somewhat if only DA2 had a little charm, a little variety - a little humour.

Apart from banging EA/Bioware over the head with a large frying pan again, the point of this post is to ask if anyone can tell me who injected the humour into Origins and where have they gone?

It's still there, you must have just missed it.

The humor in DAO was far more juvenile. The humor in DA2 is far more subtle and is hidden inside various puns (and Merrill's obliviousness to various situations).

They are about the same in terms of humor, but given my nature, I liked the overt nature of the humor in DAO far more. Even if it is a bunch of canned one-liners between Morrigan and Oghren.
