Enlighten me!

First off does anyone know where the number to register the game is as i fell abandoned now! (xbox 360)
Main question is how do you position your companions in combat (archer/mage) and make sure they stay there?
I know how to move them but they still wander into melee distance?  Is it the hold position command? But wont that stop warriors moving to attack?
