I just finished Act 1 (I have about 20 hrs invested in now), completed the Deep Roads expedition, and still do not know what the plot/storyline is? All I have done so far is run random errands for strangers for small amounts of money. If I wanted to aimlessly run around "offing" people for money, I would just play Grand Theft Auto or something.
Am I missing something here??? Someone please explain to me what kind of plot/storyline is going on at this point. Also, does an actualy story develop as the game goes on??
Please explain the plot/story for me...

I... Uh... No.
It kinda does, but then it doesn't.
Act 2 is better than Act 1 though.

The whole point of the act one was to get enough coin to buy back the Amell estate for your mother, Leandra, and to get the Templars off Hawke/Bethany's back. That's it.
Okay that's not entirely it, it does set up several plot hooks for Act 2 and Act 3.

... Seriously? Do you read the first chapter of a book and throw up your hands in defeat cause it doesn't explain the end to you? Keep playing. It's the only way you will understand the story. It is meant to come together slowly, bit by bit through each chapter until the very end delivers the entire image. It is an amazing story and very well put together. Exactly what I like to see in a novel and exactly what the gaming genre needs in order to move away from the dated stereotype of "children's toys".
Not every game has to be "find weapon, kill big bad guy, win at life". This game is unique. The plot is intricate, the characters are well developed, and the impact it has on Thedas is mind blowing. But you don't understand just how much until you finish the game.
And for those of you who will, inevitably, take this chance to bash on a great game yet again, I will suggest a different medium for you. One you might be able to grasp a little better.

Meeting your companions while questing for money for a Deep Roads Expedition that will make you rich and famous might not be fun for all, but it certainly is interesting to some of us. And I understand your point, its tedious.
But role-playing a refugee from another country that comes to a city which is full of refugees and then you become the Big Cahuna is certainly fun for some of us.

It wasn't that, it was just that ever side quest was actually like a small story.Maybe its the fact that a lot of what you do comes back in some way or form in the second act.

It was a nice Baldur's Gate 2 callback, I think.

Hahaha, hopefully it picks up. Thx for the feedback. Here is to hoping Act 2 isn't as tedious as Act 1, like some of you are saying.
