What? Sif! Cullen in DA2 is a champ and if it weren't for him hawke would be dead anyway since he would have had to face the rest of the order there as well.
after hawke beats an army of golems and meredith im thinking that cullen was looking out for his own hide.

Like I said in the original post. Their actions are not related to the it... The way they present themselves is what defines their badassery.. Their armor, their theme.. Their pwning. =D

The only levelheaded templar in charge with enough balls was surprisingly Cullen. Everytime I talk to him, I expect him to draw his sword and try to mow down the mages in my party. Turns out, he's a changed man and confronts Meredith no matter which side your on.

They wield magical abilities so they are mages. Even if their talents are limited to dispel and mana draining techniques(Well that smite attack is as much offensive magic as it gets)
You wield magic of any kind, you're a mage, simple as that.
