I though the big ass statues were kinda funny. What was their point? I mean, of course they intimidated slaves and such, but they must have taken a lot of time, money and manpower. And if you want to intimidate someone, you could use that templar army with their big swords and whatnot.

...And yes, I know it's a fantasy game.

At risk of getting too serious, the statues are from the days of the Imperium, so pre-Templars. I think they're more meant to give teh slaves an atmosphere of despair rather than outright intimidation. the Magisters had blood magic for that after all.

But they could have just used the cash they had to buy a record player and the "Painful Screams and Roars, Vol. One". I be that would have created a depressing feeling when played throughout the city.

But anyway, surely they could have done it better than using massive statues?

As funny as this is, it's almost not funny at all because of how true it is. I mean, "Press a button, something awesome has to happen" is a direct quote from one of the tools that made the game.
