Okay a little bit after I recruited anders I decided that I'd go talk to him, after talking to him he hits on me and I answer no it doesn't bother me (assuming I'm choosing the same type of option as you could for zevran in DAO) even though it does have the heart icon. I don't flirt with him at all but in Act 2 he acts like we are together saying I wouldn't let anything happen to you, so does this mean that we're in a relationship? Is there any way to respectfully decline without gaining rivalry? Also can you do Fenris quest if you don't romance him? Any help is appreciated.

For any character, don't use the heart option if you're not interested. Just turn him down next time. The few rivalry points won't mean anything over the scope of the game. You'll get plenty of opportunities to build friendship after this.

I'll do that next time then have any idea regarding the fenris issue? I heard that the only way to do his quest is to have sex with him, is that true?

I think the only way to break the romance/not have any is to tell him you are in love with somebody else when he comes to your estate at night. He will say he thinks they will break your heart, but goes away, breaks the romance and you don't gain rivalry. If you try to break it off before it's possible but you will get rivalry points.

Alright thanks a lot, although I do find it pretty humorous that I start a romance with anders by just saying no it doesn't bother me that he's hitting on me and I didn't even flirt with him at all...lol.

lol....just don't choose any heart icon responses. That means you're flirting with them. You can make up the rivalry points later if you want friendship~
