Are these Arrival screenshots supposed to be hyping us up?

So far we've got a screenshot of a blurry figure in what looks like a cryo freezer, a screenshot of Shepard looking at some random terminal with a mass relay diagram on it and an exterior screenshot of some random building. Am I alone in being rather unenthused? What exactly are these screenshots supposed to be selling me on?

To advertise the LotSB DLC, we were given screenshots of skycars racing through Illium, screenshots of Shepard battling a unique asari, screenshots of Liara in combat attire and forboding images of the Shadow Broker's ship. These Arrival screenshots seem to me rather like trying to hype Dragon Age by releasing a screenshot of random wooden barrels in front of a nondescript stone wall.

I don't care for the first and the third, but the second was great. Now it's time to stop messing around and start to actually release information.

I don't really see the point in hyping it up more. Everyone is already going crazy for it; it's not as if they need people to get excited.

I agree with Cheesetogo - we're excited enough BioWare, just spill the damn beans!

Bioware was almost performing a fan service with the LotSB dlc b/c it catered to Liara fans and people who wanted to know who the Shadow Broker was. In contrast, Arrival is original, and I'm not surprised that they're being cautious about what they show. In addition, a lot of people complain about spoilers in Mass Effect marketing... thus, the JJ Abrams-esque reveal was born.

And like others have said... we've been hyped since February anyways. 3 screenshots is better than no screenshots.

They will probably be a LDC launch video like there was for LotSB. As I recall the Overlord or LotSB screen shots where not that impressive either.

I welcome any new content... not necessarily frothing from the mouth, but it's something.

I'm a bit tired of all the "better than nothing" new content. I'm not complaining about them, they're just screenshots, that all. But I feel there's too much hype about everything BioWare does recently, starting from Mass Effect 2 where even video documentaries were contradicting one another and they provided information that showed up to be total bullpoop.

The first two were alright, given all the speculation.

The third though, seems pretty random and uninteresting

well it's at least a step in the right direction than say... spoiling that shepard dies in ME2 before the game is even out, just to create buzz

I agree with the OP. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to 'Arrival', but the pictures just aren't floating my boat, they're very meh.

Unusual green-eyed mechs and geth, a giant holo-projected VI and interesting new scenic locales did far more to generate hype for Overlord than shots of random buildings and terminals. I just don't see much point in what they've been releasing for Arrival so far.

Yeah have to say, I'm not very impressed with the screens released. Hard to get an idea what's going on, and they're quite boring (with the possible exception of the second). Hopefully a trailer will be better.

TBH these screenshots don't really build the hype train up much. A trailer on the other hand. . .

I just think it's rather odd that BioWare seems to be making such a big deal out of these screenshots' release (making it a Facebook challenge where we only get a new screenshot if 750,000 people leave impressions, etc) when each new screenshot seems to be of nothing. Why should I care enough to jump through these hoops for screenshots that don't really reveal anything interesting?

I have to say the screen shots so far aren’t really hyping me up. Especially the newest one.
I’m looking forward to arrival, so far the stroy DLCs for ME2 have been great and haven’t disappointed me but these screenshots aren’t really doing anything.

Will it let me post this time? for some reason this thread seems to break my internet. This is my 4th time trying. Each other time my internet connection went to ****.
Edit: hey it worked, this thread isn't cursed after all. :wizard:
