That wouldn't be a reskin, though. Much more difficult.

Sorry, yeah, I didn't say that properly. Stayed up too late last night playing.

I dunno, it looks like it'd be useful for getting cows out of the way if flipped upside down.

That would require us getting access to the meshes, and editing it with a 3D program like 3Ds max or blender... I could do that but I dont know how to get access to the mesh files, let alone how to mod it back in...

Couldn't you just get rid of it with an alpha? It does seem like there's a texture underneathe there, although it might not go all the way (if it doesn't, there will be a nice unslightly hole in the middle).

The hole could be covered...the first step is getting it off. It really needs to go.

Agreed.

It's supposed to be some sort of face/neck guard. You may not think it's pretty or useful, but it can protect you. The only drawback is hindered vision when trying to look down.

I like it. *hides*

bwahahahahaha

That is a good use for it.

Or he can use it to hold his apple juice box like Chuck did in the recent episode of, well, "Chuck."

I hope someone can help you can anti neck guard players, but I have to agree that it seems practical. Much less chance of your throat being slit or being beheaded.

It's a Bevor, a piece of plate armor designed to protect the throat. It protrudes in order to not restrict movement. More commonly it is flush with the neck, but this does not allow you to turn your head, which is necessary in this type of cinematic game.

I think the practicality argument is eliminated by the fact that actual, RL armor did not have such a thing.

Not to mention it looks absolutely stupid.

I cannot wait until someone finds a way to remove the dribble shelves.

The one on the Sir Isaac armor is even worse.

Yes, yes it does.  Read the post directly above yours.  It is simply placed lower then the real-life counterpart in order to facilitate neck movement.

Thanks for proving my point. Neither a Bevor nor a Gorget looks like a dribble shelf.

Not if there's nothing to texture there. If you use an alpha channel to get rid of it, there has to be something underneath. If we could cover the hole by editing the model, then we could get it off by editing the model.

Given the oversized and spikey fantasy nature of most of the rest of the parts of the Champions armors, it seems kinda silly to use that as an arguement. The "aesthetically displeasing" notion I can understand, though I don't particularly share it.

It's an oversized fantasy gorget with an overly protruding reinforcing ridge (there's a technical term for that, but which I forget ATM) done for stylistic reasons. Like it or hate it, keep it or remove it, that's what it is. I'm still all for someone removing it once the community progresses to actual mesh editing, because even though I won't use such a mod, personally, others want it.

I was COUNTERING a pointless "realism" argument - people saying "its fine, its there to protect your neck like in RL!".

There's no RL analogue to the dribble shelf. Some retard at Bioware though it looked cool.

Well, it looks stupid. It looks like its for a parapalegic to stop spilling spagetti sauce all over his shirt.

Yeah, it looks rather ridiculous. I mean, why is it there? What is it supposed to protect? What is it supposed to prevent? It just doesn't make sense.

It just looks all around bad and needs to go - badly.

I would still say its a form of this

Image IPB

But either way, if you dislike it I don't see what difference it makes. If its possible I'm sure someone will mod it out.:bandit:
