idea for a showing of good faith (apology?) from bioware.

I very much doubt they will give away paid DLC and lose money.

$60 dollars for only 20 or so hours of gameplay and people got their money worth? Interesting indeed
You can't fully play the game and finish it within that time frame. Oh, and 20hrs is 12hrs longer than 90% of games.

I just want Bioware to admit they didn't do the Dragon Age IP justice with Dragon Age 2.
You want them to lie to you? Where do you people get off? Wow, just wow.

I still find DAO a vastly superior game.

As people are mentioning game time, my first runthrough clocked in at 38 hours. I finished every single quest I could get my hands on except the Qunari swords, the Evil Tomes and the Wounded Coast kidnapping quest which was bugged.

Hm, I'm probably on a few more hours but thats irrelevant, I'll definitely replay it because my wife found some bits I did not and I want to see how the other classes play as well.
As for DAO being better...yes, in some ways it was, in others it was not. DAO felt more epic, DA2 feels smarter and with more depth though. A lot less simple black and white and a lot more grey, the spiral of Anders' paranoia, the naivity of Merrill which leads to a drama etc, the players in this story are not simple or straightforward and I appreciated that a lot.
The reusing of locales and scenery is a big miss however, I expect better from Bioware but lets not forget that DAO had plenty of that as well. I certainly feel DA 2 is worth my time and money with DAO still having a slight edge over it when I add everything up.

Maybe consider making a Mass Effect 2 esque system for upcoming DLC. Give the 1st DLC out for free download for intial shipment purchasers, As an apology or showing of good faith to the comunity that for all your masking and hiding you know you have slighted.
They do not need to apologize to anyone for making a game that a subset of its followers did not enjoy.
Contrary to what some believe, Bioware did not enter into a Holy Covenant with "old-school" RPG fans (which includes myself, Utima IV FTW, thank you). They made a game with the intend to appeal to a broader audience while still retaining its RPG roots, which I believe they accomplished quite well.
Either way, if it DOES turn out that DA2 is less successful than DAO (and this outcry is by no means indicative of it, even DAO was lambasted on its forums when it came out, same as ME2, the only difference here it seems the "betrayed fans" are perhaps more organized), then the devs will take the feedback into consideration and perhaps strive to edge back towards old-school design.
Or, hopefully, just be given more time to make DAIII, which is my preference.
Either way, they do not owe anyone an apology. Just like Bethesda didn't need to apologize for streamlining Oblivion the way they did (remember the outcry there? Or, heaven forfend, the hysteria that Fallout 3 inspired?). Let's try and keep some perspective here.

Currently 45 hours in total on DA2. Second playthrough is surely taking longer then the first. And I'm already planning my 3rd and 4th playthrough.nightlordv wrote...

I feel the game was decent but the way they have handled backlash from fans on forums and in general was insulting.
You're insulted that they didn't roll over like obsequious lapdogs to blatant trolling and actually stood up for themselves?
Or are you insulted because they couldn't magically pull patches out of the ether?

It's even more silly in this case because I actually enjoyed the game. I think it has clear flaws, but demanding apologies or free DLC is ridiculous.
Demanding a fix for the bugs is not so silly. But I guess they're working on it.

People who are really upset about the game will not be satisfied with free DLC. A credit toward the purchase of a future game would be a better way of acknowledging the game's many shortcomings. Sign me up! (for the credit)
And if they don't share your opinion on 'shortcomings', then what?

You cannot even have all the dialog and watch all the cinemaics in 22 hours. So if you sped through and skipped most of the content that is your problem no Bioware's. M first play through took 55 hours and not a wasted or boring second.

I don't see the need for a personal attack.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I didn't. My point was that people who were disappointed in the game are not the minority, but rather very much the majority.

Metacritic has like, around 2000-3000 user reviews combined. While DA II topped the chart in Europe. So I'll guess sales were somewhere in the tens or hundreds of thousands, or something.
