I'm an arachnophobe, but for the most part was able to handle the spiders in DA:O because they were few and far between and typically just in the Dalish Forests.

Even now, I could tolerate them though it does creep me out when I see one of them drop down from the ceiling right in front of the screen (making it feel like it is touching my face).

But now Bioware introduced these monstrous spiders, which for whatever reason prefer targetting me and I end up with shots of it coming directy towards the screen, trapping me in a relentless combo as my character staggers until they die.

Thanks a lot Bioware, I think I'm going to need a therapist. Any other arachnophobes here bothered by these monstrous spiders?

I am not an arachnophobia. However, this game gives me arachnophobia.

The monstorous spider, was so horrible, so disgusting, so large, it gives me the shudders. You'd think if something like that was hanging on the ceilings my party would be aware or something. But no. It comes out of nowhere.

In real life, if I saw a spider like that. I'd be running my ass off. I would be gone in seconds out of that cave.

I dislike spiders intensely. The first time I ran into one of those enormous things I yelled out loud... *so embarrassed*

I close my eyes and hope my team can take it out without me. I have a large HDTV, so the spiders are very large and very HD. I don't even like walking up to them to pick up the loot after they're dead.

I think a thousand tiny spiders engulfing the players would be far more disturbing.

I wanted to have the giant spider as a pet. So cute, and harmless.

Personally I feel 'Big Spiders' are a fantasy game cliche that needs to die. Its like some unspoken rule that every game must have them.

As a lifelong arachnophobe, I hate those bus sized horrors.

Hate the way they look, hate the sound they made, hate the ceiling decent.

Everytime I'm in a cave I pray for more skeletons.

Side note: I came back from dinner last night to a nice nickel sized spider on my desk. I swear I heard the battle music start.

Among other things, Kirkwall and the surrounding area is infested with abnormally large spiders.

I'm assuming at some DLC, we'll finally kill whatever giant spider mother coughLolthcough is spawning these things.

For whatever reason, Bioware seems to render and animate them especially well, too. I've said "gross" out loud more than once.

I think the giant spiders ate all the Halla. Which explains why the Dalish were stuck there all game.

They probably ate all the cats too. And the bears & wolves. But were smart enough to avoid the Mabari.

Yes, the next Dragon Age needs a Willie-in-the-cave-from-Temple-of-Doom scene.

I find mens size 12 to 13 shoes take care of any spider problems I might have.

A hundred of those things attacking the characters would be extremely creepy, unlike the cuddly big spiders.

Epic laughs, Panzer.  I'm stealing this as my new motto.

I remember there was an arachnophobia mod on Dragonage Nexus-- it swapped the diffuse textures with cheerfully bright solid colors. Rather like being mobbed by eight legged Teletubbies.

Video game spiders don't bother me for some reason, although I FREAK OUT if I see one in my personal space IRL.  Many a time have I called my husband wailing in terror over the hellbeast that is intent on eating me.  At least Cracked.com doesn't try to propagate the lies that most spiders are "harmless".

Hehe Funny I have always said the main requirements for any Fantasy setting is to have Giant Spiders and to have Humans always be in the center of the spot light. Guess Dragon Age 2 meets both head on.
