1. Save 84 Gold.

2. Make it to Act 2.

3. Buy from the Nexus Golem in Sundermount Cave:

Etched Ring of the Twins
+2 strength
+4% critical chance
+9% critical damage
+15% healing to this character
Immunity to knockback

4. Win.

You're funny. And right. That knockback immunity was uber-wonderful.

Having just got this for my DW Rogue myself, I agree - will go nicely with the Dull Brass Amulet (Immunity to Flanking). :P

Just need the Ring of No Wishes from The Black Emporium during Act 3 now (Immunity to Critical Hits, Immunity to Stun)... and well... I would like to introduce you to the unstoppable Rogue.

Sorry Merrill, but you're just going to have to do without the Cold-Blooded staff. :crying:

Ya, I saw that ring the first time and I had the gold for it, stand there for a minute and end up never brought it because it would be too good lol. DW rogue ftw!

I have the Ring of No Wishes as well.

I'm not sure that no flanking would help me much.  The only things that flank me are Assassins, and their attack is a guaranteed hit anyways (but no Crit thanks to Ring of No Wishes).  Decoy is good for drawing out the assassins so you can unload on them.

Have you guys ever had this all equip at the same time and fought the pride demon. I got stuck in one of his AoE attacks cause I was stuck in a fighting animation and the game bugged out. I wouldn't get throne out or stunned or anything just my character stuck in a falling animation with no damage taken, it was wierd.

True, though it will be useful at least until I get the Ring of No Wishes :)

I'm litterally doing every available mission so currently have a 36 hour play time and have not even finished Act 2 yet ;)

There is a dagger that can give you knockback immunity early in act3. Carta's left hand or somesuch, I wonder if it's a good enough dagger such that you can forego the ring?

Are there any more 'must have' items for a DW rogue?

Yes, my DW Rogue finished the game with it, but you can get the ring much earlier, so I'd buy it anyway.

Damn, if I had known that I would not have purchased the ring. That Dagger is easy to get, and free too.

I looked through all the accessories to check it was the only one that had that property, but did not think to look at the weapons.

And yes, it's a good enough dagger to forgo the ring, it has the second highest physical attack of any "named" DW Rogue weapons at 42 Physical damage - and has +87 Attack, +10% critical damage, immunity to knockback, 25% chance to reduce movement speed and 25% chance to reduce attack speed.

I was practically at the end of Act 2 when I purchased it, and am now only just into the beggining of Act 3 - I might go back to the save before I purchased it (thankfully I thought to make one...) not bother buying it, and just get that dagger ASAP in Act 3 instead.

Hah, it was worth spending the time making that picture & avatar if only to see that reaction :P

The flanking ring protects you from Backstabbing assassins correct (i.e they dont take 90% of your health in once go)?

It stops attacks from the rear doing any more damage than attacks from the front. Backstabbing Assassins will obviously still do damage, just not as much.

As soon as I see an Assassin appear behind me, I pause the game, and use Assassinate on them, do this quickly enough and they don't get their chance to backstab you. ;)

I honestly don't know the answer to that one, maybe someone else does.

Carta's left hand is better than an expensive ring. Besides, there's an amulet, belt and two rings that give +1 attrib, so why not use them and the dagger instead?

I guess you have a choice of buying the Ring at the beginning of Act 2 so you have it for the whole act, OR waiting until Act 3 to get the Carta's Dagger for cheaper.

Just finished the game with my Rogue on Nightmare. By the end of the game, you're unstoppable. I had 100% attack vs bosses, 80% defense vs everything and 250+ Crit Damage.

I noticed that even though your attack speed increases, you're special attack animations don't. This makes special attacks relatively weaker as you get faster. Backstab is only useful for the positioning by end game. I was mostly just using Twin Fangs, Vendetta and Assassination by end game. Normal mobs die too quickly to bother with anything but regular attacks on them.

Origins had the same problem.  Guild Wars handles these attack skills differently.  They are attacks for all intents and purposes, just like a regular auto-attack, only with extra effects applied to them.  They have different animations, but the timing of each is standardized (save for the skills that are supposed to be faster).  It's something I'd like to see implemented in future versions of DA.

Edit: I have the Carta's Left Hand on my Rogue, but I still go flying whenever anyone looks at me the wrong way.  Do I need to find some sort of Knockdown immunity as well?  I'm playing on Nightmare.

Actually, special attack animations are affected by attack speed too. I had that problem with Isabela where you got stacking decreased attack speed and it was very noticeable.

Just made a short clip to demonstrate this:

I had fixed my bug with Isabela with a save game editor, but here I went and changed my attack speed to -45% for the first clip. It's at my normal 45% value for the second.

As for knockback/knockdown, knockback is where you take a couple steps back and recover. Knockdown you land on your back. They're different things, and I have yet to find an item with knockdown immunity. That's pretty much warrior tank abilities only.

If you ahve the ring and the dagger you can give one to Isabella, which means you don't have to micro her. Otherwise, using her in Act III is painful.

Ring is useful for Archers and/or Isabela, etc.

I'm having a tough time beating Arishok as Rogue Hawke on Nightmare without the knockback immunity ring, so I think I need to splurge on it. After I find the Carta's Left Hand, I guess I can give the ring to Anders to make sure he can revive the party if everyone dies.

Hopefully I can still earn enough gold in Act 3 to buy a few Elixirs, Tomes and some companion upgrades for Anders, Merril and Fenris. (Buying the ring will make me totally broke)
