I guess I should add I'm running this on an Asus g73jh (the version with the Radeon 5870) and the latest ATI drivers.

I am also running this game on an ASUS G73JH. Quite a lot of cutscenes have been dramatically hindered due to severe lag. I'm playing on settings that this computer should have no trouble handling.

I'm using retail (store bought) version with the latest patch. I get intense screen lag while looting and during cutscenes. It is not over-taxing my system because my overclock isn't even kicking in.

In everyone's case, that I have seen, who fixed this, they fixed it (at least nvidia people) by installing 267.59 or 267.84 drivers

I cant find either of those drivers... I can see the beta driver 267.24.... do you mean that?

The only reason the 267.59 or 267.84 drivers may "fix" this is because they make the frame rate high enough (40-60+) for it not to be a bother, even though it's still happening.

If you turn up settings high enough (maxing out the settings) even with the new drivers the problem fully exists. Move the cursor over the abilities bar or hold down the RMB and the problem is gone. It must be a problem with the game's code.

By the way, you can get the 267.59 driver by searching for drivers for the 450/550 Ti, and the 267.85 driver by searching for the 590. If your card isn't one of those, you'll need a modded .inf to install them.

Bumping.

I am experiencing this with the signature boxed version, with recommended ATI drivers (5770) and windows 7 64 bit (i5-750).

Bioware - Thank you for making the game. I'm only a couple of hours in and enjoying it. I don't mind holding down the RMB too much most of the time but this isn't possible during fights and the stuttering becomes distracting.  I'm really looking forward to a fix for this so that I can stay full immersed in this great game! not sure if bioware has done this with their v1.02 patch yet but would it be possible for the bioware devs to release a second high quality texture pack for characters?

i am having this same exact problem as well. in all my years of pc gaming, i have never encountered a game with so many bugs. very dissapointing and makes me hestitate on any bioware release after this. i loved dao so much, this has been a HUGE letdown from a technical, gameplay and narrative perspective. at least i could say, 'hey, at least the combat is faster and better." and now i cant even say that! im putting this down until they fix it. so much for my preordered limited edition with dlc blah blah blah.

calm down, every game developing company has their mistakes and so far this was the only game they screwed up actually aside from the bugs which i managed to look past i thought dragon age 2 was a good game, so just because problems come up don't start raging people do that way too quickly.

i wouldnt know if it is a 'good game' or not because i have a game stopping bug. with all the tecnical problems this product has, it shouldn't have been released. i have put over 200 hrs into dao, and more than 50 into dao2. so far, i agree with most reviewers that this game is sub par in quality and narrative structure. so no thanks, im just fine not calming down until they fix their product that was prematurely released.

Have you even tried to do a little investigation on your side?

Since most people (including me) don't get this problem, I'd start to look on your system first. I'd disable SLI , then I'd remove the hires textures. I guess you already installed the latest beta driver from nVidia?

Not every problem is caused by the game, there are many other problems that could be caused by drivers or other stuff not working properly on your system.

First of all I never "raged"  - that's your misconception. It's called criticism and legitimate feedback from using an inferior product. Would you complain if this was a new Tv? Maybe you should stop trying to hijack this thread requesting a second texture pack when the first one is fairly exceptional.

Thx for the advice man, however I custom build my own pcs and have already researched the issue which lead me to this forum, of which I am no where near the minority if you see the other threads:

http://social.biowar...0/index/6459070

This is 26 pages long created a month ago. What about those people it affected since launch with no fix?  Im into an 80 hr save and it just happened, ceasing any further progress.

i custom build my own pc's too bro and guess what? the only problem i've had was the very high quality lag, i don't you how YOU built your pc but it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that you screwed up somewhere, plus how exactly did i hijack the thread i just made a small suggestion to something that is actually RELATED to this topic.

Strange thing is...if you move the mousepointer down to the Skillbar. The stuttering is gone. Just like when you hold the right mouse button.

Is there any way to maybe change the mouse pointer as temporary fix?

Without the mousepointer on screen i can play smooth as silk on very high all maxed out. ~~

You know, I thought I'd try this right here, and holy carp, it worked!  The micro-stuttering is rampant on all AMD video cards and holding down the right mouse button got rid of the stuttering, but now so does putting the mouse pointer on the skill bar... which is far more comfortable.  However, it still needs to be fixed.

My specs:
Core i7 950 @ 3.8GHz
ASUS Sabertooth x58 Motherboard
6GB G.Skill DDR3 1600MHz
XFX HD6870 Black Edition
60GB OCZ Vertex II SSD (OS)
150GB WD VelociRaptor (Games)

blackmamba, did you even read the other thread?. i am sure you didnt.. lots of people have the same problem. this is has nothing to do with a hardware build. I have been building pcs for more than a decade, my system is rock solid and all my other games run fine.  So thanks for your "advice"  It's the same reason DX11 was shipped broken as well for nividia users.

I emailed EA tech support and they wrote back that they cannot help and that its a GAME MECHANIC BUG. Officially stated. You have no clue what you are talking about.

and who says bro anymore? what is this 1988?

why you still keep posting to me is a wonder...ok so you've been building pc's and have been apparently very bad at it, because i've been building pc's for about a year this summer and still have been able to launch DA2 and compared to you well...i'd have to say thats pretty sad lol but hey i think you're angry enough as it is so just go and do whatever you do when you're angry and i'll read the other posts now

DA2 runs fine for me, i have no lag as my machine can handle it, unlike yours.  i keep posting because this is a thread for people who have an ANIMATION BUG problem. Do you not have this problem? You said you do, but you are confused, if you did you would see the game is UNPLAYABLE with the main character's animation moving 1/3 the speed compared to the rest of the game.

Obviously you did not read the thread where a lot of people are experiencing this bug regardless of pc configuration. You have no constructive advice at all.

By the way, bioware just released information to FIX this issue. This is a game mechanic bug, not a pc configuration problem. So thank you for your wonderful advice about my technical know how. Im very secure in my abilities. I use high quality vendor parts and its a top tier rig.

Maybe you should inform yourself instead of trying to win an argument and insult people.
