Doing a decent looking dark-skinned character is even harder in DA2 than in Origins. I'm playing dark-as-possible Hawke, and I've noticed that his face is darker than the rest of his head, so it almost looks like he's in blackface. The effect is even worse on Gamlen.
I can kind of deal with that, but last night, when I put the Robes of the Spiral Eye on him, his hands turned pasty white. I didn't notice until the Warden's cutscene when his hand was on Carver's shoulder. Talk about breaking immersion! The effect went away when I put him back in the Vestments of the Mystic, but came back somewhat when I gave him the Heavy Velvet robes. His hands are lighter than the rest of him, but I can tolerate it.
If there's a way to mod a fix for this, I'd be forever in your debt. I like being able to have my character's appearance reflect mine, but the implementation has given me the impression that I'm really "supposed" to play default white Hawke.

You'd need to edit the flesh tones on the diffuse maps of the various outfits, some of which are lighter than others. For instance, in DA:O, wearing the Tevinter Mage Robes gave you really dark skin and wearing the Dalish armor gave you rather light skin because that's what the flesh tones--before the skin tints were applied--looked like.

I can live with slight inconsistencies, but having his hands turn white was kind of disturbing. And not really a good look.
