There is no way I can critise this game and I will not spoil it but I will say this even if I am flamed for it.

Bioware did the best of a job that EA pushed a timelimit towards, neither party is guilty but given the time Bioware had to make this id say this was an absoleute miracle made flesh.

The systems that were addressed and complained about in Origins were addressed and what I am amused by is how people who complained about them now complain about number two.  I would go as far to say there are some people who will never be satisfied untill a game is either exactly the same as BG or the same as WoW or the same as Diablo.

This is none of the above, remember that.

Things change, gameplay changes story changes its the way it works.

Now, without spoiling:

Dragon Age 2 fleshes out things that Origins did not.  Granted there isnt as much grandeur atmosphere to things and it isnt the LOTR style "get out of jail free" for every decision you do story.  But thats the thing...

Its a dark fantasy, and its truer to Dragon Age's intended setting than its predacessor was by a long shot.

As for the combat, people who protest about the combat forget about why they protested about the previous games combat.

The pace is beautiful the gameplay is absoleutley satisfying.

I dont just say these things in fangasm, I say them as a very "hard to please" individual who has enough games and experience with them to know what makes an rpg good, and this is a good rpg that to me, compairs as an EQUAL to Baldurs Gate 2.

I do "not" say that lightly.

There are "some" who on this forum, have an unjustified reason to complain because they follow the crowd.  One sheep says the game is bad a hundred others who might not have even played it will agree because they dont want to be in trouble.

Well, I dont care what the crowd thinks, I defend Dragon Age 2 because Bioware made a GOOD RPG if not the best RPG of 2011 and perhaps another 10 years running.

This is by far one of the most enjoyable rpgs ive ever played for a looooong time.

Keep 'em comming Bioware, you have my love and support, even if others dont share it.

Oh and credit to Zur for an even better soundtrack than its predacessor, not that Origins was bad.

Origins was a great game, but 2 added things that Origins did not and what it did add, it did well.

Oh and on a final note: I dont know what all this garbage is about finishing the game in 15 hours, sure if you ignore the side quests it probably is a short story but then again most rpgs and video games "are" if you ignore the side-quests.

Do Baldurs Gate before you tell me im wrong.

If you ignore all the side-quests and fleshed out content of BG and its sequal you will find bioware did the best they could.  The few critisms I can give to the game are overlooked by the fact they counter-themselves when you think about it hard enough.

So again, anyone who dislikes this game can stuff it, Bioware did what they could in less than a year and made a great game, proof that a developer can do something quickly and still make an amazing peice of art.

Passionate as my words are, I believe them fully.

Give my love to David Gaider for hiring Torchwood staff and MORE WELSH ELVES PLEASE GOD.

...Please?

Thanks :D.

Love you guys, take care and goodluck with Dragon Age 3, I am expecting even more of it, dont let me down!

I'm sure you'll take a ton of heat for that thread title. But I did enjoy the game much more than I thought I would. It greatly appealed to my personal tastes in style and story quite a bit more than Origins did. Don't get me wrong, I loved Origins and played it to death, but this game just hits my buttons more.

Its a little early for me to say how I'll ultimately rate it on my Bioware Game scale. But I'm having a good time.

Haven't heard that before oh wait...

LEAVE BRITTNEY ALONE

I doubt EA handed down a date and told them to meet it, and if they had said it wasn't ready what was EA going do?

*blinks* Took me a minute, but this post actually makes sense if you read everything sarcastically.

This game does, some things better then da1, granted. However, they also cut out most of da1's options. There is no debating that, its a bloody fact.

Thanks for the review. I disagree with you about the combat - I liked Origins' better. However, I think your review is right about the story and setting and music. There are some good elements to this game even if there are things I don't like.

Great post man I'm with you on everything.

It's different to DA:O and elitists hate change. Story wise I love the idea of a game being made up of a collection of small stories.

The combat to me feel 100 times more natural and once everyone has the option to turn auto attack on then I think people won't be able to moan as much.

Also I'm not blind, there are a few flaws in DA2 but all games have their flaws, as a gamer it has to ballenced out with more good things that bad, and I think DA2 delivers more of good than the bad.

I agree on the first thing you said, they did an AMAZING job for the time limit they had. That's why I love DA2. The characters are much better now (love Aveline's...*ahem* thing *ahem*) and the story is...not better, but more original than the first save the world crap.

I liked the game but it is far from the best, I loved DA:O but it had problems, I loved ME and ME2 but they both had problems.

I hate how everyone is ether saying the game is perfect or its utter crap, nether are true.

Thanks - so this is the reason the game is so bad - it's based upon the childish and desperate, frenetic and hysterical Dr Who/Torchwood.

I like Merrill, but as I've said elsewhere she's not a Dalish elf, she's a Welsh woman.

Which game is the OP referring to as one of Biowares best games to date? It's certainly not DA2.

You think Torchwood is childish?

Personally I think the Welsh voice works perfectly for the Dalish seeing as they talk with an accent anyway.

Good for you I guess.

I want to peel my face off every time I face the same enemies (extra waves popping up in the same predictable spots) in the same reused enviroments for the n+1th time. I dread doing night time quests, because it means I will have to slaughter a city worth of thugs before I get to enter the copy pasted sewer/warehouse/back alley.

I had enough déjá vu for the rest of my life. Probably the next too.

I agree with the OP. Since playing DA2, I can't even look at Origins anymore.

Yep pretty sure there wasn't a set launch date they were held to, if EA was that focused on getting crap done by x date ToR would have already launched and not gotten pushed back again into fall of this year. Also, torchwood is not that childish but it is a bit like the party in DA2 everyone is sleeping with everyone, and somehow Hawke is jack.

Could we please drop the "elitist" label?  Disliking some aspects of this game does not make one an elitist, and it does not mean someone hates "change" in the abstract.  It means that they think that particular changes were deterimental rather than beneficial.  Personally, I think there were both good and bad changes in this game.

That's one of the funniest crossovers ever. DA3 you play as Capt. Jack Hawkeness.

I'll no longer think of Hawke as Daniel Faraday from Lost anymore.

Don't bother, they actually think we want every game to be 800x600, 2d, round-based RPGs.

Ignorance is bliss.

This. I'm not even that picky - since there are just a few games per year that even spark my interest - some years less, some years, like 2011, there are more. I'll buy mostly everything considered a RPG, why does that make me an elitist? I just voice what I liked and disliked. There are things DA2 did better then DA:O, and vice versa.

Yup, because you don't have a bunch of butthurts saying thing like, "I hate DA2 , so there's no reason to defend this game, and if you do, you're a fanboy."

I wish Bioware had done the really lazy thing and said here, "You're the last GW in Orlais. Defeat the sixth blight."
Origins 1.5.

That would have been lazy.

You have your opinion, I have mine.

One thing though, I won't be pre-ordering DA3.

... and if anyone doesn't think there has been an almighty ****-up somewhere, having to have a 'only game owners can comment' thread after a game release is weird.

Maybe it would have faired better as Dragon Age: Bloodlines etc instead of DA2.

^ There is far too much trolling from people who have only played the demo and such.
