Bioware did the best of a job that EA pushed a timelimit towards, neither party is guilty but given the time Bioware had to make this id say this was an absoleute miracle made flesh.

Wait...are you saying I'm supposed to lower my expectations because they needed to meet their timelimit? Wow! I wish I had customers like you.

The systems that were addressed and complained about in Origins were addressed and what I am amused by is how people who complained about them now complain about number two.

Yeah...the people that complained then must totally be the same people that complain now.
I'd really love to see the world through your rose-tintet glasses one day...

Well, I dont care what the crowd thinks, I defend Dragon Age 2 because
Bioware made a GOOD RPG if not the best RPG of 2011 and perhaps another
10 years running.

It was the only RPG of 2011, so in a sense yes it is the best, but only because there are no games released in 2011 to compete with.

Um, Skyrim, Deus Ex, Mass Effect 3, Dungeon Siege 3, Witcher 2, to name a few coming out in 2011. Posted Image

Good to see something positive here. I was accused of being a "shareholder of Bioware or EA" for daring to write a positive review on Amazon. The haters really pounce on everyone who dares to disagree with them. But those who like it must be vocal too. Write reviews (Trying to balance them though, not just gushing vs. hating), speak up. Show Bioware that you care and like this game. Point out what you loved and what you think they should improve.

We've had hater fests like this when DAO came out. When ME2 came out. It doesn't matter who behaves like this, it happened.

On a side note I think the problem on the boards at the moment is this:

The fanboys (Mages) want all of the elitists (Templars) to stay quiet and not have their say.  The Elitists think this game is not great and that the Mages have no right to defend it and that they should be made tranquil so that they cannot defend the game and can be told what to say and think.
The only was to solve this is to have the Divine (Bioware) step in and say who is right.

Funny how well this metaphore works

So true X)

About your review, I agree on some point. The game is a miracle seeing the dev' time. That's why I still have faith in bioware.

But for all the people who will call me an elitist because I prefer origin... Cut it out already, I just want to play again to another great Role Playing Game from Bioware because they know how to make them. But the huge problem in da2 is the role playing part. It look's alive and free, but when you scratch the surface, you can see all the littles details missing. I'm not talking about the blight story... the story on da2 could have been even more powerfull than that.

Because, play the game three time, you will have no major impact on the game. Sad but true. And about how everybody loved companion... Yep i liked some of them too. But They feel to straight minded for me. I mean no surprises at all coming from them. I have guessed how meryll storyline would end, i knew how isabella storyline would end, i wasn't afar from how anders storyline has ended. Beside, we can't get alot of glimpse about their past, their motivation, why do they follow hawke... IMO they are less worked than origin. do that make me a bad bad elitist who want the impossible ?

Na, the sales numbers will give them all the justification they need. For every hater here is a copy sold.

Finally someone who put this and isn't afraid to do so.
I am wondering why anyone compares todays cRPGs with BG (or IWD). Those were the kings of their times, now we have different times, some aspects change (and players too). You can't just shout that BG was the best because if you look with distance now BG also had its flawes and no one cares about them. Some aspects in DA2 are bad but overall it is a very solid continuation in the series. But will be best RPG of 2011 ? I think not. The major contest will be between Witcher 2 and Skyrim.

Yeah but none of those games are released yet, so it's a bit premature to claim that DA:2 is the best RPG of 2011.

Skyrim kinda leaves me on the fence, after Oblivion....(Which was shiny but lacked the genius of Morrowind)

Now The Witcher 2....I am counting the days till I get my greedy claws on that one!

Some people complain just to complain thats true. Others do it because they have valid reasons. Both groups are usually quite easy to spot.

But for some people DA II will be the best RPG of 2011. For me, it'll probably be Skyrim > Mass Effect 3 > Deus Ex > DA II > Withcher 2

Skyrim will probably win the awards though.

Valid according to THEM. Have you seen what has been going on at Metacritic and Amazon? It's absolutely shameful behavior. Now I understand if someone who is disappointed wants to voice his/her opinion. But the way people who like this game and openly stand by it are treated is disgusting. Hell, some idiot on Amazon accused me of HAVING TO BE a PR Agent or Shareholder of Bioware/EA because I dared to write a positive review! How do you justify that?

The game on it's own is great and far superior to origins in most every way but as a sequel to origins it has enough minor flaws for ravinus fanboys and trolls to sink their crooked, buck teeth into

So of course it's the minor flaws that get the most attention as would be expected from the creatures who linger about here, the rest is Biowares own doing.

Mass Effect isn't RPG. It is a action game with small elements of RPG. It's like talking that Diablo is RPG which isn't.

Completed my first playthrough. Agree with most of the OP's points. Ending was rushed and there were some minor bugs but overall, despite its flaws, it was an entirely enjoyable experience.

What is it about the ending you felt was rushed? I'm asking, because I don't understand this, other than the fact the game ended. I thought the last boss battle kicked arse, and was a thousand fold better than the final boss in DA: Origins.

It ended, and left the world in turmoil, like it should've. But, I do want to know what felt rushed to you.

I agree. I play rpgs since Baldurs Gate on the Pc and I really enjoyed Dragon Age 2. Yes, it has big flaws and Bioware will hopefully adress them in future releases.

I'm so sick of all the mindless haters who condemn the game, Bioware and the entire world without even having played the game.

Basicaly : your former's companion's models. Compare the ending video quality with the first one and you will see the quality is not there. Also... where are all the choices we made ? In origin I knew the consequences of my choices. At the end of da2, nothing about that.

And the flaws everybody already pointed out.

I wasn't talking about the game as a whole, and as I've said I think it could of benefited from another year in developement.

I was asking him why the *ending* felt rushed to him. Posted Image

Oh yea, I thought that last video was wierd. It looked like crap.

this game feels more like a console game than a pc game. Yes i know the difference isnt there anymore but i still think console and pc platforms differ. both in their content and their audience. rpg has always been a very nerd heavy scene and was really exclusive to PC users. Now companies releasing games for both at the same time means they sometimes sacrifice stuff. i really cant see any old school gamer preferring DA2 to origins. this isnt really elitist approach its just straight up fact. different focus groups have different needs. This game was aimed towards a different group while taking advantage of its predecessors success. As I said before its not a bad game at all but not the sequel some people were expecting.

And to be honest without friendly fire this game is prob a hack n slash fest. Play on nightmare kids.

Nope totally disagree one of the worst RPGs I've ever played. I just feel like a puppet reacting to events that take place during time skips. What the hell am I doing for 3 years while the place goes to hell ?

The design is all about cost cutting and time saving. From the hordes which pad out the game time, to timeskips that simply place you in the middle of things without allowing you to head off what is obviously coming.
