Wow.

You know, I originally planned to put like 12 smilies in my post, so people would know I was kidding around.

But then I thought "naw, just keep going and see how long it takes people to figure out you're just sarcastically teasing the console folks."

I thought the easy bake oven was so over the top that it would be obvious I was just kidding around.

Seriously folks. :)

I have nothing against console gamers figuring out ways to use mods. Sure, I think the PC is the best gaming platform, but that's just a personal opinion. :)

Exactly. It sounds like you could tell I was just kidding around.

These damn console users. They can't take a joke.

Then again, I'd be bitter too if I was trying to play advanced games on my Speak 'n Spell.

Acting like an A hole is not sarcasm.
Saying "I was only joking" after being called on your behaviour is the reaction of a child.

I don't think I claimed I was being sarcastic. I said I was kidding around.

How about if I add "I'm sorry that I did a bad job making it clear I was joking"?

I thought the references to Fisher Price, Easy Bake Ovens, and Speak 'n Spells made it really clear I was engaging in hyperbole for the sake of humor.

Now get your panties unbunched and go back to playing on your Simon.

Think about this; if it was so hard to actually make mods for consoles, why would Microsoft and Sony be reluctant to allow them? Simple answer is that it's not any harder to do for consoles than it is for PC\\Mac. I think part of the reason Microsoft doesn't allow them at all is that they think it will cut into their share of the DLC market. I'm not certain why Sony is reluctant to allow further modding on PS3.

Sony dissaproves of modding I've heard. While I think DA modding would have been entirely possible were we allowed to get them running on a PS3. Like allowing the game to read a folder similiar to addins in My documents/Bioware/Dragon Age (2)/ on a thumb-drive or any external drive and treat it just like any DLC. I doubt it reads entierly different level geometry, model files, textures and scripts. But I'm not sure as I don't know if Bioware's DLC work differenty on the consoles

The PC will remain the only modable gaming platform unless Microsoft and Sony does something.

You are a really sad person when you can't stop hating even after someone 1) explains they were joking 2) apologizes 3) explains they were joking some more.

I really pity your miserable existence if you go out of your way that much to assume negativity.

Then again, if all I had to play games on was a Mattel Electronics Football handheld, I'd be bitter too.

Maybe someday you'll get to play games on a PC like the rest of the grown ups! Cheer up!

Yup. I understand that. But now that I've explained repeatedly that I was simply engaging in hyperbole for the sake of a joke, AND apologized for the misundertanding, isn't it time for the spaz console weenie to reel it in?

I think so.

Cambios, since you play DA2 on your vastly superior PC how about you stick to posts concerning the PC version of the game. Stop being an ass clown fan boy. We enjoy sitting on our couches with a controller in our hands playing on our large tv's not sitting in a chair with our dicks in our hands on your 3,000 dollar machine you most likely use for gay porn.

As for gay porn, don't be so quick to judge. If you play DA2, then you're playing a game where the devs apparently want you to be gay. Just sayin'

Totally, dude!

People who try to have a sense of humor, and people who accept full responsibility for their words and apologize for their mistakes... wow, what jerks those kinds of people are.

There totally has been modable games on the PS3. LBP and LBP 2. Just not full scale mods like stuff PC users can do. Personally I like games better on a PS3. But when I had a good PC it was nice having more control. I dont see why that cannot be done on a Playstation 3 though, Make it a Free DLC patch or something.

You forgot about Unreal Tournament 3, which allows mods that are almost exactly like the ones on PC.

It's not a matter of "can PS3 games be modded", since if the game developer makes DLC for them, it's pretty clear they can be; it now becomes a matter of "can modders legally create and distribute PS3 mods" and that is literally up to Sony, the game publisher and the game developer.

Yer its possible but you will be breaking xboxes ToS and therefore if caught your GT could get banned, or you console banned. That said if you are and offline gamer there will be nothing they can do. If you are going to Mod DA2 on your xbox you'll need:

- Memory Stick

- Modio to extract save to desktop

- Horizon to extract savegame.das file and savegame.das.x from original save

- Dragon Age II save editor, and relative texts documents to find items you want

- Dragon Age II resigner, to reassociate the edited savegame.das file with original savegame.das.x file

- Reopen orginal save in Horizon, insert the new savegame.das and savegame.das.x file replacing originals

- Save, Rehash and Resign. Close Horizon. Open Modio, open file, rehash, resign and then save to USB file.

Microsoft can't do anything since you aren't actually tampering with their system all you are doing is moving the saves from your HDD to your memory stick. I'm being using ME2's gibbed editor for over a year now and my GT hasn't been banned.

From what I've read they can ban you from editing game saves aswell, as its seen as a form of tampering and cheating which could aid in the attainment of achievements. What are the ME2's edits like?

Typically, Microsoft won't go banning you just because you edited a save file unless you're using it specifically to unlock achievements.

Thanks Mark B for posting the info on the save editor. It's a lot simpler than having to use pyGFF.

To the OP, if you are able to extract the savegame.das file from your PS3, in theory you could use pyGFF to edit it since it even works on Xbox 360 games.

Did you even notice what's in my signature? Or did you bother to check out my registered games before posting this; if you didn't, let me make it perfectly clear to you. I play on PC, I mod DAO and DA2, and I want console player to have the same ability as we do when it comes to playing with mods.

I don't care who you are, what your sig says, and I won't let it stand in the way of my fun pointing out what little silly toys the consoles are.

And I hope the console players NEVER get mods. Let them buy a good PC and the PC version of the game like the rest of us superior gaming beings. :)

Now go back to Gamesharking on your Easy Bake Oven console.

Oh please, you're not even a mod-maker yourself, so what would you know about actual programming architecture in the consoles?  Or even PC mod development for that matter?  Contrary to belief, mods can be put on consoles (Xbox and PS3) quite easily.  The only reason they're not officially distributed, is because of the manufacturers wanting a closed market system (Xbox Live and PlayStation Network).

Hehehehe. First, read the thread. The comment of mine you quoted was a joke. I was poking fun at console gamers. A little platform rivlary never hurt.

Second (note that it was YOU that made an issue of my experience, not me. But for your post, I wouldn't even have gone here):

1) I have released 2 mods and 1 mod tutorial for DA2 alone.

2) I've released mods for tons of other games. I was even part of the group that released the fan mage patches for Temple of Elemental Evil, making that game playable after the creators went out of business.

3) I own an independent gaming company that has been making online computer games for 15 years.

Now, do you have any other stupid and wrong assumptions you'd like to pull out of your butt? :)

First, there is absolutely nothing funny about your ignorant "jokes" at all.

Second, I just checked out your mods out of curiousity.  I'm sorry, but I've seen better "hacking" with a GameShark.  By the way, as for your game company, do something more than a MUD and then you would taken seriously on here.  You have not proven at all that you understand the architecture of modding on a console.

Technically, it is possible to use Modio on PS3 files as well.  You just need to copy the file from your PS3 onto a USB drive, then copy it to your computer.  From there, use Modio to extract the savegame.das and go through the process outlined by Seb.
