Well actually, it certainly IS possible to add mods to the PS3 version...

I have 4 mods running on the PS3 version and they work perfectly.  I have the "Hairy Hawke" chest hair mod (makes my Hawke even hotter, no wonder Anders cant resist!) the "Constant Vigilance" mod that takes off the poofy jacket when Hawke is at home and replaces with his armor.  Even the character gen mod works.  My 3rd PS3 Hawke is using default Hawke's hair and blood smear, but looks MUCH hotter than BioWare's version IMO.  It also makes default Hawke available as a modable pre-set.

I don't get it, "CG Trailer" Hawke was hot, default poly-Hawke looks like the hottie from the CG trailer 15 years later, and he was also a heavy smoker and drinker during those years.  I hated the CG versions of Origins' characters but love the game versions, I also think Issabela's CG version from the trailer is ugly but has a very attractive design in the game. Anyway, back on topic.

I intend to try some other mods if there are any that interest me, there isn't alot at the moment.  Sadly, I have not been so successful getting the PC mods to work on the PS3 version of Origins.  I really wanted Equal Love to work so my guy can be with Alistair (I bet BioWare are sick of gay guys whinning about Alistair by now) but gave up and finaly bought the PC version of Ultimate.

The Equal Love mod is recognised by the PS3, because Alistair's picture changes (is there one for Female and Male warden characters?) to the same as the PC version with the mod but as soon as I try to speak to him (or Morrigan, Duncan etc), the game freezes.  I tried the simpler Free Love mod as well.  Picture changes, but when I speak to him, I have the male responses only.  Then his picture is changed to the defualt picture I am used to on my 360 with my male Warden.  Grrr, so annoying!  The only other mods I tried was an Alistair face morph which resulted in seeing the loading screen endlessly, and the "black briefs" mod which actually worked.  It's a damn shame BioWare could never get them on the PS3 officially.  Hey, they could always just patch Alistair for us right???  :wizard: No?  Didn't think so. :?

Sorry, after having skimmed through, a good portion of these posts, im getting the following impression from peoples posts.
People are under the belief that its easier to hack games on consoles??

Has anyone here not tried hacking a pc game?

I guarantee you, PC Version of games are always going to be easier to hack than a Console game.

Note - I do know the difference between a mod, and a hack, but lets face it, some things you can accomplish either way. Same destination, different path.

Download Cheat Engine
Open Cheat Engine
Attach to the DA2 Process
What do you wana edit?

Magic Ability Score?

Equip Ring that gives you +2 Magic
Scan for your magic score
Un-equip Ring that gives you +2 Magic
Scan for original Value
Repeat until you have only a handful of memory addresses.
Change the value of the memory addresses to whatever number you desire.
Ala - Instant 200+ Magic Score or whatever you want it to be.

Obviously PS3's are not going to be this easy to hack, mod or slash.

The above procedure can be used to edit anything from Health and Mana, to Ability Points, and Weapon Stats, even item duplication. (imagine Your whole party running around with Staves of Parlanthan) Lol

Yer its possible but you will be breaking xboxes ToS and therefore if caught your GT could get banned, or you console banned. That said if you are and offline gamer there will be nothing they can do. If you are going to Mod DA2 on your xbox you'll need:

- Memory Stick

- Modio to extract save to desktop

 - Horizon to extract savegame.das file and savegame.das.x from original save

- Dragon Age II save editor, and relative texts documents to find items you want

- Dragon Age II resigner, to reassociate the edited savegame.das file with original savegame.das.x file

- Reopen orginal save in Horizon, insert the new savegame.das and savegame.das.x file replacing originals

- Save, Rehash and Resign. Close Horizon. Open Modio, open file, rehash, resign and then save to USB file.

Most of the files are here

http://www.xboxmb.co...-2-modding.html

Awesome, thanks for the info! BTW, can this process be used for the PS3?

Technically, it is possible to use Modio on PS3 files as well.  You just need to copy the file from your PS3 onto a USB drive, then copy it to your computer.  From there, use Modio to extract the savegame.das and go through the process outlined by Seb.

I tried what you said with my PS3 .das file and it gives me a "Modio could not open that file, Invalid Package" error. Any ideas on this?

To the guy above have you extracted the savegame.das and savegame.das.x files on modio to your desktop? If not drag the full save into modio--->content--->then right click and extract. Once they are extracted open the savegame.das in the dragon age editor.

EDIT - since posting this a while back someone hs done a far better tutorial check here

Thanks Seb! To answer your question, I have tried extracting the file but  whenever I try to extract the SAVEGAME.DAS file via Modio it gives me the error I posted perviously. I'm using an LACIE drive if that makes a diffrence.

Have you tried to see if Horizon works with the PS3 save? I've been using Horizon to extract the files on my xbox instead of modio.

PC controls feel unnatural to me, console takes me in more. I don't know why, just... The feeling... That's my opinion, though. I don't care for mods anyway.

I'd really like to know if and someone got some mods working on the PS3. I am not really ready to jailbreak my PS3 for it though.

So far, everything i've tried has worked without problems.  Chest hair mod, face morphs, even the Truffles Duval texture mod works.  You do indeed need CFW or some "other" device so you can add the override folder and mod files to the game.  I could try and take photos but I don't know how well a photograph would show the textures.

I flicked between the PS3 version with texture mod and the 360 version in Hightown, what a difference the texture mod makes.  I'll be glad to finish my first 360 game so I can get back to playing on the PS3.  I need to play the 360 version because that's where my Origins/Awakening saves are.  Haven't seen any difference to playing with the generic history of the Warden on the PS3 so far, which is disappointing.

Because I have CFW on my PS3, I cannot access the PSN and so I can't up load my characters to this site.  My third Hawke used the chargen mod which I guess would be some evidence to back up what I have said.  I just wish the mention of CFW didn't make people instantly think you're a "pirate", I detest piracy.  It's a shame Sony can't tell the difference.

You guys should have bought this on the PC!

I personaly can't aford a powerful computer to play DA2. Plus I'd like to have the explorer window open so I can check tutorials as I play on another screen. I tried playing ME2 on the computer and I felt uncomfortable since I'm not seeing the action on the larger monitor I use for watching tv as well as the fact that I unable to use my pc to do other things. I'm not hating, I'm just saying some of us have our reasons for our choice of gaming preference. Besides why bother alienating us console players, we all share the same love of the games BW made for us.
