I have played the Demo game and enjoyed the greater number of enemies. However, I'm not impressed with the combat system. My experience is pressing X like a mad man and executing a feat every so often. There is no block. There is no combat like you find in Demon's Souls or even Two Worlds 2. It's just a straight up button press to execute a die roll and show some random attack animation. Does this about cover it? Does the melee combat get any better than this? If not, I'm not ever sure I'll rent the game.
I wish they would have incorporated a real melee system. The party system is good. I just want to feel like I am actually playing and have some control.

You mash X, and use abilities when you can. Then it is back to mashing X until the abilities cool down.
A typical bandit leader will take approximately 15-20 X mashes, or 5 x mashes, and 1 ability.
You will earn 5 silver.

So, melee combat never gets any better than mash X forever and execute a feat when you can? Wow, that sucks in my book.
Thanks for the response. I was really hoping the full game changed combat in some way.
