Carver was a HUGE whiner, yet he was still one of my favorite characters. He's just a very typical 18-year-old little brother. However, you'll notice as years go by, he grows out of it and slowly matures into a fairly decent man. I felt much more of a connection to him than I ever felt to Bethany because it felt like our relationship was so more real. And when a certain tragedy happens in Act 2, all I could think of was that I wanted to see my little brother and it's one of my only disappointments in the game that he didn't come home from The Gallows to talk to me after that happened.

I think joining the Templars was actually good for him. He needed to find a place of his own in the world rather than just follow you around and by the end of the game I was very proud of him. Hopefully the person who wants to kill him will change their mind.

Edit to add:  I would also suggest reading your codex about him in act 3 if he joins the Templars.  There's some very good insight to his character in there.  

 Well when you put it that way whitless256. No perhaps I won't, all my characters in every game have been paragons (good) people , I always seem to spare people -- even if they deserve it (unless they cause mass destruction if I let them live, I'm benevolent, not stupid) -- I believed when I got to the end and chose the mages side  he would turn against me. It's good to know he at least has some moral being - still don't like him though, he had a go at Merrill !

Question: Fenris is my friend, but if I choose the mages side at the end... Does he turn against me/leave?
