I'm at the end of the game right before the suicide mission and I have done Miranda's loyalty mission, sided with her over others, and spoken to her between missions, yet still no romance with her. Let me also mention I own the PS3 Mass Effect version and opted for a romance with Liara in the interactive comic. After the cutscene where Miranda wishes us luck before the suicide mission there's another cutscene where Shepard is in his cabin and glares over to a picture frame with Liara's picture in it. I did not know picking a romance with Liara in the comic would have an adverse effect with Miranda in this game otherwise I would not have opted for it. Is there no way to reverse this? Or do I have to start over again to get the trophy?

ME1 romance does not override ME2 romances. I have seen a successful garrusmance, with a liaramance imported from ME1.
Can you perhaps reload a save file from around Miranda's loyalty mission? I'm not familiar with her particular romance path, however, some of the options can be a bit weird. As I recall, the actual dialogue options you must choose are rather unsubtle in ME2.

Did you do both Jack and Miranda's loyalty mission?
You need to do both, and then defuse the confrontation between the two of them. If you want to romance Miranda, you need to either use charm/intimidate to solve the dispute, or you need to side with Miranda.
Once you've done that, talk to Miranda again, and you'll get a long (for ME2) conversation about how Miranda is impressed with how you're doing, about Cerberus, and about Miranda's genetic engineering. STAY in that conversation as along as possible, until you get to the point where Miranda says that she's "only responsible for her failures." Use the "you're too hard on yourself" conversation option, and that should give you the opportunity to get the romance started.
That's how I remember it, anyway.

why does the cutscene with liara's picture appear? i dont even think she's setup to be romanceable in ME2.

Liara is the ME1 Romance so Shep looks at a picture of her (or Ash/Kaiden) if you didn't romance anyone in ME2, because s/he still loves ME1 LI. Also, Liara's romance can be continued with LotSB

Miranda can be romanced before doing Jack's loyalty mission. IF I recall correctly you just need to speak to her about 3 times after her loyalty mission, & then it gets to the stage where you "admire her body", & the rest leads to itself.. Naturally you need to complete another mission of some sort after talking to her each time to advance to the next stage in dialogue.
