Why can't I be nice without doing the horizontal dance?

Honestly, Bioware?

We saw this in Mass Effect 2 and Jack. Apparently if you wanted to help her through her issues, you couldn't do this through normal human empathy. You only could do it if you wanted to bed her.

So now I see it with Fenris. I offer him a book. And apparently, I can't offer to teach him to read without it being considered a come on, really? Really?

Even though he's an elf he's still a man. We think every gift is a come on.

Nice people get hit on by those who are not use to such niceness.
It it quite normal.THat they see something that is not there.
Like if those guys in bioware had a woman act quite nice to them they would get the wrong idea.
They write a story for you that is realistic....lol

Men are suppose to be giftless.
Men are suppose to provide not the otherway around.

I was really put off by this, as I was by the fact that romance options came up almost immediately after meeting the characters.

Fenris: My master wants to rip these tattoos from my still living flesh.
Hawke: Seems like a waste of a perfectly hot piece of ass.

And it is unfortunate that you cannot improve Fenris' literacy without implying you'd like to bone him. I was initially put off by Jack's situation, but I've decided I kinda like it. I'm also fine with [SPOILERS] about Anders, which I think puts me in the minority as well. Characters are who they are (terrible people who won't let me fix them).

I picked this option and there was no horizontal dance. He never thought I was trying to get into his pants. No relationship pop-up.

Yeah the heart is supposed to mean you talk a bit flirty or at least indicate interest. But for some reason it also puts you right into a relationship. Well you can just break up anyway without getting rivalry points. That's at least something.

Ha, you made me laugh. Posted Image But it's true. At least he clears his throat uncomfortably.

ROFL... that comic is fantastic.

Yeah, I was just going to say that I taught Fenris to read (I think) and it wasn't romantic. Maybe you need to be friends first? Or maybe I don't remember the specifics... I know he accepted it and later we talked about him practicing. Or something.
