Question For you all,

Does Choosing the Blood Mage Abilities with Hawke have an effect on how the story plays out, or does it make no difference like in DA:O?

Specs make no difference, like in DA:O.

Yep, if Meredith had been had way resonable instead of a Stalin wannabe, I would totally have sided with the templars.

Meredith's cruel supression of mages made them turn to demons in desperacy. Jowan in DA:O also turned to it to be more powerful as it has transpired that he is going to be made tranquil. There are always those who want to terrorize or lusts for power, but DA2 mages that turned to blood magic were mostly desperate.

Orsino was just stupid and very pesimistic, turning into a powerful form, only to not make out the difference between ally and enemy.

Wynne will chew you out though. Wardens live under a "any means neccesary" principle, and Blood magic is allowed among their ranks

DA2 was rushed, and I doubt this was too high on the priority list.

If you play as mage and beeing threated by Meredith it's hard to like templars.

Exactly...I found myself despising the templars and siding with the mages at every turn.

Strange, I found it very hard not to hate the templars and find it extremely hard to play an anti-mage character. I just feel so ruthless and heartless and even if I roleplay that kind of character it still makes little sense what with bethany and all.
