-Merril as love interest because unlike many romances in games she isnt a S**t who throws herself at you plus i like her welsh accent.
-Aveline as she is the personification of a women destroying female sterotypes
-Varric as bromance and banter legend of course with bianca
- Anders as a mage terrorist who judges everyone is always interesting
-Morrigan because she was the most interesting character of origins
but if they could some how write Garrus into DA he'd be in my team

Alistair
Morrigan
Varric
Isabella
Anders
These characters have been most important to the stories of the two games, so they would be most fun for me.

Alistair Tank of course. Fenris is a beast on DPS. Wynne is my forever healer. Isabela is the best Rogue ever. Bethany to Fireball through everything.
Nothing could ever take them down.

Ok,
Isabela
Leliana
Oghren
Shale
Sten
Maybe Varric for Oghren, not so sure.
The talks between Shale and Sten were so epic.
Shale: I have never heard of such a thing called a qunari.
Sten: Then you have not been listening. We did not row to shore last year, we have been about for centuries.
Shale: I have listened. I have done little else, in fact, and yet I do not remember anyone mentioning such a qunari in all my years in the village.
Sten: Relying on humans as a source of education is a fool's errand.
Shale: They are rather ignorant, aren't they? And feeble. At the best of times.
Sten: We have creatures on Par Vollen that are similar. The humans call them "monkeys". They are dull, cowardly vermin. They cry out shrilly when threatened and throw their own feces.
Shale: That is an excellent comparison. I wonder if they are related?
Sten: Possibly.
Also, I'd like to see how Oghren hits on Isabela.

Shale (crushing some pigeons!)
Varric (Always badass and hilarious!)
Morrigan (great with the children...but really not. which makes her great!)
Aveline! (Makes great comments)
Maybe bring Alistair along so they would all have someone to make fun of!
My party equals = Best party banter! Yay!

As for a five man party?
If I was playing as my warden: Alistair, Oghren from Awakening (luv him as a warden!), Anders from Awakening, Varric and my hound.
For my female Hawke: Varric, Oghren from Awakening, Zevran, Isabella and Anders from Awakening.
I miss my good ol' buddy Oghren, I was beyond excited when he came back in Awakening. Alistair will always be my fav, but Anders from Awakening was a close second.

Avaline (and Donnic)
Varric(and Bianca)
And Merrill

Drunken Alistair is awesome in DA2. "Swooping is baddddd..." I laughed out loud when he said that. I haven't ran into Zev or Leliana yet but I don't really care about 'em to be honest.
I like the new companions better for the most part:
Bethany is the sweetest character ever. I really liked being the over protective brother so far.
I haven't played with Carver surviving yet.
Aveline is pure gold. A solid, stoic female warrior that I've wanted in a game for a long time.
Varric is quite possibly one of my favorite characters in ANY game I've ever played. He is always fun to have around for a laugh, and he has a very fun personality.
Merrill, I'm not entirely sure about. She's the cutest thing, and I love her VA, but she's a blood mage and has consorted with demons. It's rather creepy. She is amazing in combat though, I've soloed some bits of nightmare with her.
Isabela also has an amazing VA and she's very fun to have around in the party but I haven't had her around much as she is somewhat of a liability on nightmare so I won't say anything about her.
Anders has the best combat one-liners in the game IMO. I'm not sure about the VA change but he sounds quite similar except perhaps not as laid back as he was in Awakening. I suppose being possessed by a spirit can change a man.
Fenris is the broody JRPG elf that I was expecting. I imagine that he has a buttload of fangirls.
Sebastian has a very good VA and he seems to have a good, atypical religious personality but I haven't had him around long enough to judge.
I'm only in act 2 at the moment.
Let's see though...a party of 5:
Morrigan
Varric
Isabela
Merrill
Sten

Morrigan - For the same reason everyone else said. Plus she'd approve of my trolling.
Merril - She's too adorable to not have.
Anders - Because I would be amused to have trapped in a party with the previous three.
Leliana or Varric - I need a rogue to pick locks I guess. Varric would have an amusing nickname for Velanna.

DA 2 wins.. I felt like they were dearer to me than most of the DA:O companions.
Dreamteam? : AHH I cannot decide^^
-Leliana
-Merrill
-Bethany
-Isabela
-Varric
POWER OF SWEETNESS xD
But Morrigan was soo close to be in there...
And Alistair, love, of course, too.
If need be that I decide between my GW and Hawke, I'd go for Hawke. She is a more individual and independent person than the Warden, and with that voice making sarcastic comments... :>
That group would be a killer! Everyone dies choking on the jokes

As to dream team: Morrigan, Zevran, Isabela, Sten, Varric - imagine the tension... poor Sten
As for Warden/Hawke dilemma: I'm choosing Hawke - he's much more alive, and I don't get the impression that he isn't actually needed and story would happen with or without him - it's much more personal this way.

It has to be Origins
I loved Alistair (his just that perfect guy) and it had the best characters of Sten, Shale and Morrigan even Oghren grew on me.
DA2 the characters didnt really grab me. Fenris interested me at the start as did Ander's but towards the end I had heard it all and was over the brooding and constent you must choose a side. They just didnt have the heart but it could also be that I didnt really connect with Hawke either.
This ^
Characters in DA2 are great, but they lack of depth, they could have been much better. Origins's companions were much more enjoyable to me, and I felt like I really knew them all, and I cared about them.
But then, I neither feel connected with Hawke.

I would take my Origins crew + Varric
Agreed. I loved everyone in Origins, and the only real character I've found myself fond of in DA2 is Varric (warming up to Merrill, however, as she is the only not-a-turd romance option in DA2). So yeah, Origins + Varric would be where it's at.
5: Leliana, Wynne, Sten, Shale, Varric
And with the Warden/Hawke debate? The Warden every time. But I'm a sucker for saving-the-world characters, rather than "caught up in a load of grey" characters like Hawke is.
