I'm wondering if I must be armed with a 2 handed weapon, in order to use a 2 handed talent. In other words, can you have a talent in one weapon speciality can use it while using a different weapon style?
Can I be indomiable with a sword and sheild.

Excellent question, I wonder if we will get an answer for this. I would generally assume that two-handed talents would apply exclusively to times you are actually using a two-handed weapon. However, in Dragon Age Journeys (which I by no means intend to imply has anything at all to do with DA:O mechanics) some talents don't care which weapon type you have equipped.

I'm assuming you do from what I can see from the character creator. You probably can't shield bash without a shield and the only thing saying you need a shield for that talent is the (Sword and Shield) next to the ability name. Indomitable has (Two-Hander) next to it.
Of course this is just guesswork on my part. I can't tell you for sure until the game's out.

From the Wiki: http://social.biowar...dex.php/Ability
"Additionally, the bonuses of an ability can be made conditional on the
character's current 'wield mode' (2-handed, dual, weapon & shield,
or universal) through the conditional integer field on the
passive_abilities worksheet."
So some passive abilities will only work with their respective weapons equipped. It doesn't mention this about sustained abilities, but then it doesn't mention this about activated abilities either, where you obviously need a certain piece of equipment to do some weapon moves.
I'd take a guess and say that Indomitable won't work without two-handers, though it seems like a very weapon-neutral talent. Just don't count on it.

It doesn't answer your question directly but if it doesn't work, shield wall combined with expertise will give you a similar affect : Shield Expertise makes the character immune to direct knockdown attacks while in this mode.
Of course that is much later in the game. I hope they do let most of the abilities be usable (where it makes sense) regardless of weapon. We will see a lot more fun and viable builds that way.
