So what class do you like playing best and why? (Spoilers inside)

From a gameplay standpoint, I found the Spirit Healer spec to be awesomely powerful, esp once you add Force mage to it and gain +100 Fortitude. There were points in the game where it was my PC and Aveline left standing (thanks to her aura of healing) toe to toe against their foes. Long ass fights because they don't do much DPS but they eventually got the job done. On normal difficulty, unless things knocked every bit of health off my PC in one or two quick shots, inside of one round later she was maxed out in health and still fighting. IE< once I got the aura, nothing could kill her.
Mages in DA2 were much more dynamic and interesting to me than in DAO, and I really liked the spec trees, I just wish they hadn't been so character specific. For instance, Anders is the ONLY healer if you don't play a mage since Merrill doesn't get the creation tree, and you lose Bethany after Act 1.
I tried out a two handed warrior but couldn't get past Act 1 (I just can't get into playing one). Haven't tried rogue yet, I just really really enjoy the mages.

force mage and elemental magic focused, its just a blast to play. moving people around to be more effected by my fireballs and firestorms. cone of colding guys, fist of the makering dudes that aveline recently shieldslammed and making them go pop. just super satisfying. plus being mostly ranged i get that tactical view to see things better without being surrounded by enemies.
i tried playing the rogue, made it most of the way through act1 and felt like i wanted to just play the mage again, from bethany being far less interesting than carver. the rogue not being as fun, and the mages better connection to the story it felt a bit lacking as the rogue.
i should try the warrior, but i think i'd run into the same issues with it as the rogue.
oddly though, i hated playing the mage in DA:O, it was super overpowered but FELT weak. i loved playing the warrior though (which was weak but FELT powerful) if that makes anysense lol. plus the human noble warden felt the best with the rest of the story.

Second to that, however, I would definitely say that mages tend to be my second favorite if only because of their crowd clearing abilities.

When I cut people, it's like their organs spill out.

2hd Warrior's don't fair too well either. They get like three damaging spells and that's it. They really got shafted in this game. I know they're supposed to be filling a "tank" role but I'm pretty sure a 2hd Sword would do more damage than a couple of daggers.
Not to mention Warriors don't get many weapons either. Man, my favorite class sucks. :c
I'd totally buy DLC to get Meredith's sword though. c:

Hawke, a penniless refuge from Lothering trying to make a name for himself in the large city of Kirkwall just makes the Rogue class appealing if you're rising to power through shady sort of means.

I always prefer playing Warrior's. They're just more fun. it's really a shame they're so underpowered. By end game, my rogues were doing over double the DPS I was doing and my mages were almost that strong too.

Try the warrior build/strat posted here.
Before I gave it a shot my warrior felt lackluster and I had to pause often to babysit my other characters. After respeccing, I rip through groups with ease, barely ever use potions, and clear enemies completely between each wave on hard mode.
Cleave, use of the R button to auto target, and Reaper should really increase efficiency. Also very important is Ander's "Haste" skill in the creation tree which will significantly boost your damage. On top of this I have Merrill maintain Elemental Weapons while Anders maintains Heroic Aura.
Hope this helps.

My Rogue is very fun though, hard to choose as I really like the melee combat stuff.
I have not tried warrior yet, need to restart my Rogue play through as it seems the game bugged on me in part 2. :*(

Duel-wielding rogue is nice for the speed and the way you can leap between enemies. There's something really satisfying about using the Twin Fangs move as well.
I got a taste of the warrior class when talking control of party members, and I thought two-handed warrior was good fun, but sword and shield was rather boring (a useful asset to the party, but not terribly exciting to control). Archery was fun, but if I'm playing ranged I'd rather be using fireballs than arrows.
