So far up to this point, every Bioware game I've played has had some sort of major, shocking, game-changing plot twist that occurs about 75-80% through the game.

KOTOR had Revan, probably the best one

ME had the Reapers / Citital.

ME2 had the prothenes / human Reaper, etc

DA:O had the Grey Warden's dying, followed by Morrigan's ritiual.

I just finished DA2 today, and I was pretty happy with it, but couldn't help but notice that it ended predictably. Having played all these other Bioware games, I kept antisipated something big was going to happen towards the end. Since the game was family oriented, maybe Hawke's father / the Hawke family held some big secret.Or maybe Kirkwall itself was special in some way that had yet to be revealed.

The only things that really happen in the end are the things that involve the first enchanter and the knight commander. And these are far from twists, seeing how 95% of the other mages in the game already use blood magic, And Cassandra reveals early on that the idol plays a major role in the story. Seems like wated potential.

Anyone else bothered by this? Or were there some twists that I missed?

I don't think DA2 was about twists or big reveals so much as it was about telling this one particular story about a man/woman who would shape the world of Thedas for the next who knows how long. Think of it as a biography of a person instead of a structured narrative, and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Sandal actually did everything Varric said Hawke did. Varric figured it would be hard to believe that Sandal did all that, so he told created Hawke.

They were doing something different, ergo there is no traditional big bad. The story was about your hero's role in starting a war that threatens to engulf the whole world and bring down the Chantry potentially.

This game wasn't supposed to an epic saving the galaxy or saving the world from darkspawn. It was one man's/woman's rise and the **** that happened along the way,

This, as well as the fact the Big Shocking Event is the Chantry exploding.  Especially if like me you opted not to help Anders sneak into a civic building for reasons he won't reveal, after helping him gather ingredients under false pretenses for a potion whose purpose he won't describe.
