Why are you always given the option to kill the gay men in Dragon Age?

Dude, you totally got murder knifed by Gaider.

There seriously needs to be an achievement for that.

I'm almost jealous. I wonder if it was a Genitivi style murder knifing...

Same it never gave me that slave sidequest and i even talked to him in the beginning of Act 2

If you have him in the party after that conversation and leave the city, the quest will begin.

Thank You

Well let's see. On my latest mage playthrough of DA:O the only ones left alive in my camp were Morrigan and Loghain. The only ones I didn't personally see die were Alistair and Sten (sentencing Alistair to execution and leaving Sten in a cage during a middle of a darkspawn invasion don't sound very healthy to them), and you could kill Loghain and *potentially* kill Morrigan in Witch Hunt (doubtful) with the murder knife of doom.

I still relish Alistair's reaction to that.

Firstly, you could kill Zevran if you didn't like his assassination attempt on you at the beginning of the game. Then you could kill Anders because of his betrayal and blowing up the chantry. Could you kill Lelianna for being a spy and telling her stories? Nope. Could you kill Isabela for running off with the Qunari relic? Nope. Just good old Zevran and Anders get murder knife...there should be an equal punishment for the girls too bioware!

No but you could turn her over to the Qunari which was as good as a death sentience.
You could kill Leliana if is you chose to taint the ashes.

Why do people keep responding to a dead guy?

He died near Andraste's Sacred Ashes, he is five feet from Lelianna and Wynne.

Wait wait wait. Wynne is a gay man?

Yes. And so is Alistair, Sten, Oghren, Leliana, Shale, and Dog.

Morrigan is the only companion that's not a gay man because she's the only one you can't kill.

Well I think you can at least try to kill her in Witch Hunt?

You can try, but she doesn't swing that way.

So the logic is that being gay renders someone vulnerable?

Nope, it's being an NPC in a BioWare game that renders people unto the murder knife.  ;)

Other notable people who could get the murder knife:
  • Zathrian (he put his arrows in some elf woman's quiver at one point)
  • Lady of the Forest (okay, this could be a grey area, but she's not a gay man, she's a transgender spirit/wolf)
  • Bhelen (caught sticking his anvil in the forge of the casteless sister of the duster dwarf origin)
  • Lord Harrowmont (not sure)
  • Connor (too young to know which way it goes)
  • Isolde (she birthed Connor)
  • Renden Howe (I refuse to recognize his title of arl, the weasley Cousland killing bastard)
  • The guy who breaks up the city elf's marriage--not a gay man, but he pillages elven women for ****s and giggles, definitely not a gay man
  • The Tevinter slaver dude in the Alienage (questionable, he's Tevinter)
  • Loghain (somehow he plowed some girl's field to get Anora)
  • Wesley (definitely not gay, more like subdued by ginger-haired Amazon who uses a two-handed sword like a cheese knife on darkspawn)
  • Kelder--he molests elven girls
  • Weylon--keep pushing your luck and oops, murder knife in his face
  • The town of Haven (hmmm, you know what, I'm going to leave this here because there were mouthy brats in town before you and your party start murder knifing the Cult of Andraste)
I think my theory stands--if you're an NPC in a BioWare game (like Dragon Age ;) ), you as the NPC stand a chance to become host to a horribly placed murder knife.  I don't think it's limited to gay men, lesbians, bisexual people, pansexuals, asexuals, the list goes on.  I think it's more like, "How many people do you have the option of running over with the plotwagon?"
