Voice Acting: Female vs Male Hawke

I just finished playing through with male!Hawke and am now watching my roommate playthrough with female!Hawke.
I found both actors to have pleasant voices, but after hearing female!Hawke's delivery, I find that she's very monotone compared to male!Hawke.
Male!Hawke's voice had so much range and emotion, I really bought every line said as "real" and I found his delivery to be just incredible. Kudos to the voice actor. <3
female!Hawke I think was still very good, but again, I found her a bit flat, like she almost always sounded kind of bored, or like someone reading lines as opposed to a 3 dimensional character speaking them.
(and I'm not just saying that because of any gender bias, I played through Mass Effect solely as Fem!Shepard and cringe every time I hear male!Shepard haha)
So guys, who did you find was better and why? Did any of you find that Hawke was better suited to different personalities based on gender (ex. sarcastic fem!Hawke vs sarcastic male!Hawke)

I don't see it as a quality issue. Dude Hawke is slightly more expressive while Lady Hawke is slightly more reserved.

Female Hawke's been pretty good so far, but I'd want a little more emotion. just a twinge.

Haha yes Jennifer Hale > Mark Meer any day. Sorry, Mark.
I'm glad it's not just me seeing the range thing. My roommate told me I was just biased because I have a crush on default!Male Hawke, haha.
That's an excellent point though, I guess most of it is the sarcastic options work much more believably for male!Hawke.
Another way I noticed the difference in voice acting was with the romances. I haven't been through all the romances, but I noticed that when my roommate's fem!Hawke was hitting on Merril, she sounded completely bored, whereas when my male!Hawke was hitting on Fenris, he actually sounded, well interested.
But, I'm definitely not trying to bash female!Hawke's voice actress, I think she does a fine job, I just found that male!Hawke was more expressive, which I personally found more engaging and believable.

i agree they are quite different but, as maria Caliban said, i dont think one is really better than the other (as in ME), it is just a different style to bring the char alive

Yeah, I felt that added to it. I try not to jump to extremes like that in options, but male!Hawke actually sounds like he's gone from being polite to being angry, but still the same character, which just impresses me to no end.

I played Lady hawk in first playthrough, by accident lol but yea I liked the voice acting though sometimes she sounded a little too posh/noble, like as if it was an act. so far though in my 2nd play through male hawk is great =)

Hoping to get around to playing a Male Hawke sometime soon so I can get a good feel for his voice.

No it makes sense because an agreesive attitude sounds different then a diplomatic attitude.Myusha wrote...

Female!Hawke sounds hot when sarcastic and seems to have more emotion in that category than Male!Hawke.

In terms of playing a Large overacting Ham, yes, Jennifer Hale does > Mark Meer.
As far as I've seen in DA2, I prefer Boulton to Wyatt as well. Though my opinion of the latter is negatively biased after selecting way too many "Sarcastic" options at inappropriate times - but I get the feeling that would happen as well had I done the same thing with Boulton. The resulting lines were painfully unfunny. It proved to me that BioWare certainly didn't intend for the player to simply pick Diplomatic / Charming / Aggressive every time.

You say "flat", I say "consistent". I like how I'm able to switch between dialogue choices with Fem!Hawke and still feel like she's still speaking within the same sentence, if that makes sense. With M!Hawke I was switching between diplomatic and aggressive constantly, and while the emotions were expressed well, it felt... bipolar.

So I like them both, I didn't have the massive turnoff from one actor like I did with Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2.

I found the delivery of both Hawke's humour to be dull. Sure, the tone was right, but the delivery was just god awful which made the joke only funny if you were enchanted by their voice in the first place.(you know how when you're attracted to someone you simply laugh at their jokes no matter how unfunny they are? yea)
