So I played my first game, and once she was gone, she was gone. She was pretty much neutral with me, which I hear has something to do with it.
I'm on my second playthrough now, and despite bringing her along with me wherever I go, she's still mostly neutral. I just started Act 2. How much friendship/neutrality do I need to get her to come back, and can I do so without romancing her? Any tips on building rivalry/friendship?
Isabella- getting her to return?

Start flirting with her and she'll come back.

Isabela is a pain. You pretty much need to start working on her immediately in Act 1 because she doesn't have a Companion Quest for you to get the mega friendship/rivalry points with. You need 50% in either direction and to do her "Questioning Beliefs" quest for her to come back during the Qunari attack. Her Act 2 gift is hidden in the "Blackpowder Courtesy" quest (I think in a tunnel somewhere), but other then that it's really about taking her on the right quests. Killing the Magistrate's son gets you some friendship, so does doing "Isabela's Contact" with her in the party.

Isabella has two quests in Act 1
The second quest she asks you to go speak to a guy named Martin. If you do that quest and tell him where his goods are, you gain 15 points from Isabella (friend).
She also has a quest in Act 2 to retrieve the relic and if you tell her you will let her have it for Castillion, she will gain approval (as well as most of your companions across the board).
You can also give her the "ship in a bottle gift" to boost her friendship.
I had no difficulty getting her approval past 50 in order to get her to bring the relic back in my second playthrough.
