whats not to love about dcl. im normally sad when i finish a great game. even one as long as this one. dcl gives ya a great reason to come back. probably the dcl team was put in place before the game was pushed back. so this dcl wasnt meant to be finished until the game had already released, it just didnt happen that way in the end

I think it is irrelevant to debate about should it be free or not, the company decided it wasn't so it isn't. It's a company, they make money, if they don't want to give you something for free then though.
There are only 2 questions that matter..
-Do you feel it is worth the price they want?
-If yes, can you afford it?
That's it.

I personally don't expect them to produce more content for free, they deserve to be paid for their work like everyone else. So long as we can pick and choose which bits of it we want to buy and not have to have people in the game trying to sell us the rest.
I have found out that in a way the in game sellers are optional, you can turn them of by diabling the DA downloader before you play the game it's explained in the read me apparently. The Dev in question was a little unsure if this would stop patching the game too, and of course it means if you don't want sellers in the game you can't pick and choose which bits of DLC you buy it's all or nothing including the free Shale.
But at least it gives me a choice of sorts even if it would be much better to make the sellers properly optional so people who strongly object to them but not DLC itself would have more choice and Bioware would sell more DLC to boot. I know making it all or nothing like this has cost them a sale of wardens keep to me....
Yes I know if I have shale & Wardens keep these sellers wouldn't be noticable in my game because the quests would be there but what happens next time they make some DLC I don't want, I get a seller in my game.
Also if they can patch in new sellers via the downloader how does it scan that the DLC hook NPCs most be in the game to start with for them to intigrate the DLC properly? I mean they aren't worried about new sellers just appearing. Anyway for me it's mostly the principle of being sold to in game I don't like.

Then if I wanted to install Shale (using the free code included in the box) or any preorder item, I'd have to allow the DA downloader to install other DLC sellers? That would be bad, imo. I like the fact that we can choose not to install the characters from DLC we haven't bought, but that shouldn't prevent us from getting the individual pieces of DLC we choose to by other methods of purchase (i.e. the Bioware store and normal installation out-game).
Also, I hope they allow us to patch the game without installing the sellers. Let's wait for more answers and clarification.

If someone disagrees or does not like the DLCs, then they should not buy them. Simple as that, no need to make a thread about it. It's not going to make Bioware go "Oh snap, the vocal forum minority doesn't like this, guess we better change it!"

I like DLC a lot but the price must be reasonable.
EA isnt known for reasonable DLC prices, just look at the sims3 store.

DLC integrated in the game in such a way is obvious slap in the face to everyone who bought the game.
I hope that there will be some notice on the game box required in the future saying "this game includes quests that could not be completed withought additional download/payment". That would be fair.
And then i would not buy the game because i have very slow internet connection and can not download too much. And still i want to complete everything that i see in the game. Now i can't. So it is an imposture from my point of view.
