I have Anders as healer, and Merrill is a blood mage.
Is there some way to prevent that Anders tries to heal Merrill?

You can set the tactics to character name rather than "Ally" - bit inefficient on tactics slots as it takes up an extra one (self/Anders, player and other companion) but you get the bonus of putting yourself at the head of the que if you want.

I see, so there is no way that takes up only one slot.
Thanks

Is it really a big deal? By default, Anders doesn't cast heal unless people are really, really low on health, and you can just turn off Merrill's blood magic thing to heal her.

That's a pain. Anders already has 2 slots allocated to healing as a default (self and ally) so using 3 really shouldn't be an issue plus as I mentioned this will give you more customisation.
Personally for Merril, I respecced her with an all magic/constitution build. Gave her all the blood magic stuff, ran her sustainables off mana before running blood of the first and she had 400+ hp with 22 regen and the equivalent of 2800+ mana with 3 defensive sustainables running on mana that's not needed for anything else. Add in a life ward potion for boss fights and she's about the hardest character to kill.
I went over the top with the mana at 7:1 (BotF 1:1, friendship 2:1, 2 rings & an amulet 3:1, staff 1:1) and would probably replace a ring or even both with a health regen one on future playthroughs.

You're right that that's the most ideal thing to do, I think.

Well its really simple don't use Merrill, like me, of which i do due to RP reasons.
Or at least don't use her BM
