I really doubt it. I went to him first so... time isn't the issue.

TBH, that guy pissed me off. I felt powerless (yet again) during that quest, but at least you can take revenge. That's something, I guess...

The whole third act was one big "Stop hitting me, I'm on your side dammit" for me. Apparently, when you hold a secret apostate meeting, THREE apostates walking in on you, all core activists of the mage underground, can only mean that a fight to the death is inevitable.
Similarly, you can't stop huon and that darktown girl from going axe crazy - would've let them both go, just as I'd have totally sided with Grace (you know, like I did before). But no -.-

Yeah, this quest goes out of its way to kick your puppy. The whole time it's kicking your puppy it's screaming, "Magic is bad! Magic is making me do this!"

Agreed.

How can I side with magic, if its killing innocence?

And then Merrill's final loyalty quest pops up.....

This Act brought to you by The Templars! "Join the Templars today to ensure there's a tomorrow tomorrow."

Regarding Merills loyalty quest, I still blame the keeper for incompetence, the clan for not listening, and the orlesians for a whole lot of unrelated things.

seems like bioware just wants us to go on a killing spree, curving away from subtle manipulation of your party & NPC's like you could in Jade Empire

i miss those days

Among the many quests that do this to the player. These are the frustrating quests. And it is a great contrivance of the plot to forceguide the player, as I've said elsewhere, to hate mages.

DA2 seems much more black and white than DA:O or other games. I mean sure, it's good if you are being pushed or if aspects of both sides are presented but yeah - some of the quests in DA2 are very frustrating - like what was mentioned earlier.

To be a blood magic free, circle and Templar opposing, freedom supporting mage is impossible - well at least if you are trying to spare innocents. Huon (well at least it felt like it) and Grace both did so much talking before they acted that I should have been able to just kill them *sighs*

Was anyone able to make it through the fight with Huon without losing a member of the party? His blood magic is brutal.

It's plain retarded you couldn't save Nyssa. As soon as you enter the alienage she dies. But you're already in the alienage! You could have walked faster!

Hawke has a plot condition where he's always five minutes late and as such can't save anyone.

Yeah, seriously.

It's especially bad in this case because you can tell Nyssa that you'll protect her, but to complete the quest you have to leave her alone in the alienage and come back at night, whereupon she is killed because you didn't protect her. It just makes you feel like such an ass.

I just wonder if what Huon was saying about Elves having power within them was true? That may come up in DA 3 who knows
