AUTORUN TOGGLE: check!
TAB HIGHLIGHTING TOGGLE: check!

The lack of autorun in ME1/2 and DA1/2 was always something that I found inconvenient. So I finally did something about it! I also am not a fan of holding down the tab key constantly to see what I can click on in game. This mod includes both toggles. You can use both, or just one. Its up to you!

It is very easy to use. You download the zip, unzip, and run whichever one you want. You don't need to move them around or anything.

This does not actually mod the game directly. It simply adds functionality to 1 or 2 keys while you have Dragon Age 1 or 2 active.

Autorun and Tab Highlight Toggles

Enjoy the convenience and lack of carpal tunnel pain! :)

This is great. I was using the autohotkey script released for DAO but it would continue going off even when I was alt-tabbed out of the game.

I am however trying to change the Notepad0 into middle mouse button (MButton), but can't get it to work. Any ideas?

I have two suggestions for you. One is the "better" suggestion, the other is the "easier" one.

EASY SUGGESTION: Go into your mouse setup, and especially if you have application specific settings, bind your middle mouse button for Dragon Age 2 to "Numpad0".

"BETTER" Suggestion:

If you have AutoHotKey installed, then you can edit the scripts I included in the zip.

Open up the file: autorun_tab_toggle.ahk

Go to line 67, and change all of this:

=============================================
$Numpad0:: Gosub, AutorunToggle
~w:: Gosub, AutoRunOff
~s:: Gosub, AutoRunOff

AutorunToggle:
 toggle := !toggle
 Send % "{Numpad0 " . ((Toggle) ? ("down") : ("up")) . "}"
return

AutorunOff:
toggle = ; Off
Send {Numpad0 up}
return
=============================================

to this:

=============================================
$Mbutton:: Gosub, AutorunToggle
~w:: Gosub, AutoRunOff
~s:: Gosub, AutoRunOff

AutorunToggle:
 toggle := !toggle
 Send % "{Mbutton " . ((Toggle) ? ("down") : ("up")) . "}"
return

AutorunOff:
toggle = ; Off
Send {Mbutton up}
return
=============================================

Basically, instead of Numpad0 you use Mbutton instead for the middle mouse button.

Similarly, if you wanted to use a side button, you'd change Numpad0 to Xbutton1 or Xbutton2.

That's true. The beauty of that is it doesn't interfere with anything else, and if you read the scripts you could potentially use it for all sorts of other games as well (like Mass Effect).

The fact that it is configured to work only when a Dragon Age window is active does sorts shove it in that direction. :)

thank you my friend ^_^ I love this game, enough that I'd endure pain in my fingers from holding W and tab keys ^_^

curious, the tab toggles and maintains itself after I press it, I don't continue to walk however, even after pressing numpad 0, any help?

Make sure you are running the autorun_tab_toggle version that has both functionalities.

Also make sure you set one of your forward walk keys to Numpad0.

I did, using autorun_tab_toggle, and set the alternate forward key to numpad0, stops after pressing it, will try to restart the game

This is an absolute must-have. Maybe not huge or flashy, but that most treasured of additions: a true difference maker.

What would be the script if I wanted to set autorun to the T key?

Thanks in advance.

I've already endorsed this file on nexus, but I want to thank you here as well. My TAB-abused pinky finger is singing your praises. :) I don't use the autorun as much, but the TAB toggle is a huge improvement for me.

Someone above was commenting about autorun not working... I had the same problem, BUT mine was me not thinking about NUMLOCK. Soon as I toggled that, it worked.

Thanks again, Cambios! :)

1) You need to install AutoHotKey

2) From the zip you downloaded of mine, go into the subdirectory with the actual script files. Open one like autorun_tab_toggle.ahk

3) Find this block of code:

$Numpad0:: Gosub, AutorunToggle
~w:: Gosub, AutoRunOff
~s:: Gosub, AutoRunOff

AutorunToggle:
 toggle := !toggle
 Send % "{Numpad0 " . ((Toggle) ? ("down") : ("up")) . "}"
return

AutorunOff:
toggle = ; Off
Send {Numpad0 up}
return

Everywhere you see "Numpad0" change it to "t". Like this:

$t:: Gosub, AutorunToggle
~w:: Gosub, AutoRunOff
~s:: Gosub, AutoRunOff

AutorunToggle:
 toggle := !toggle
 Send % "{t" . ((Toggle) ? ("down") : ("up")) . "}"
return

AutorunOff:
toggle = ; Off
Send {t up}
return

4) In game, make sure you set "t" to your secondary move forward key (in addition to w).

5) From that point forward, run YOUR edited autorun_tab_toggle.ahk file. Don't use my .exe any more. You can even make your own .exe if you want, but that's not necessary.

That's it! Enjoy!

Ok, it's being glitchy but I should be able to get it to work.
