So in my game I experienced the same disconnect till the last act when it came to party memebers. The only thing I was sure of was my absolute distaste for Isabella. xD She actually left my party in act 2 because I just nonchelantly did not respond to her at all. Her opinion didn't matter and it showed.

Anyway to get on with it. I was firlting with all the men in my party at the begining. Anders, Sebastian, and Fenris. Sebastian was sweet and good looking but wasn't digging my advances. Anders was honestly a nut IMO. Startinga revolution over a cat. xD And Fenris was the first to jump my bones. After my love scene with Fenris I wanted the acheievment. I decided I liked him better too(squee!) so I stopped flirting with Anders right during the scene where he was putting milk out for a cat. You know the one?

So our romance stopped there and all through out the rest of the game whether I had Fenris in the party or not, if Anders was in it he'd make jealous comments about Fenris.

Companions conversation went like this when they were both in it:
Anders:"Fenris What does hawke see in you? I don't get it."
Fenris:" It is done."
Anders: "Oh good then."
Fenris: "Do not make lght of this it was one of the hardest things I've done."

Then when Fenris was there while I was knee deep in crap the moment I hopped in the sewers with anders he triggers a scene with me talking crap(which I guess the sewers is a good place for this sort of thing?) about Fenris and asking why I'm not with some one more "open minded." I responded by saying not to talk about Fenris that way but what I was really thinking was "You're the one to talk mister crazy pants!"

Did anyone else experience this or see something simlar only with a jealous Fenris?

The one about Hawke deserving someone more open minded seems to happen regardless even if you displayed interest in Anders or not.

i remember when he speaks about he thinks merril will choose a demon over hawke anyday which i felt like saying you have not right to speak about our relationship thankful if merril is in the team at the time she says how hes a complete hypocrite which made me smile.

Where did you manage to get this idea from? I'm curious.

It might as well have been over his stupid cat - how he survived the Joining I'll never know.

In my first playthrough, my Hawke ended up in a relationship with Anders, though she flirted with everyone (all the time) and had a fling with Isabella. I also made sure all the companions stuck around (though Sebastian got on my nerves, so he stayed in the Chantry a lot.) From the conversations that took place, Fenris and Isabella were sleeping together on and off, Merrill was happy that Anders and Hawke were happy, and Isabella liked to tease the crap out of everyone about anything sexual.

From all the party banters between him and Fenris, it's really beginning to sound like jealousy isn't mutual. Rather, one sided on Anders' part. M!Hawke wasn't even in a relationship with him yet, but he pulls him over anyway to tell him how he's a lot more open minded than Fenris. If m!Hawke says Fenris left him, Anders will say he's not sorry at all that Fenris led m!Hawke to him.

Long story short, Anders doesn't like competition.

Anders is quite pathetic, he's probably the most closed minded companion in DA2, all he ever talks (more like whines) about is mages and how bad they have it and nothing you do ever makes him think he might be wrong whereas with Fenris he actually admits that not all mages are bad if you become his friend as a mage.

I think if you hook up with Anders after Fen dumps you, you get jealousy from Fen (in banters).

But yeah I didn't flirt with Anders at all my second play and he still pulls you aside and asks what you see in Fenris if you're doing the Fenris romance. Which makes sense, really. He's got a crush on Hawke regardless, I guess.

Good luck becoming his friend as a mage if you ever take him anywhere and don't hate on your own kind.

Actually I did become his friend with my mage, even though I was nice to most mages, all I had to do was hate slavers, demons and blood mages, that pretty much gained me all the approval I needed even if I was nice to regular mages.:wizard: I was also nice to him in his personal quests so that helps too:D

And you took Fenris with you during the nice-to-mages parts? I lost approval with him just for telling Thrask that I wanted to help the dream-mage kid. In the course of that conversation with a templar, it was implied I wanted to help him by finding him and taking him to the Circle. The only way Fenris was happy is if I called him a menace.

There were some quests where I didn't take him because I knew it was likely that I would lose approval with him, I did take him with me on that Thrask quest and lost approval with him (I didn't know that would happen <_<) and it annoyed me but I somehow still managed to have a friendly relationship with him.

That's a quirk of game-mechanics, really. It's like Fenris is honestly unaware of all you're doing to help mages and if he was aware and reacted to it, you'd much more likely be rivals or neutral towards each other.

I know :pinched: felt a bit like cheating since I was metagaming but I capitalized on what we had in common and became good friends with him, making him realize that not all mages were bad.  As much as I tried to make Anders realize that the Chantry wasn't all bad, he still blew it up along with Elthina, probably the nicest character in the game :crying: so to me Fenris>>>>>>>>>>Anders :)

Good to hear! They don't like each other already, and now you put a pretty lady in between them!

BTW, if you like boys fight over a female PC, NWN2 was the best... Lawful good VS Chaotic Evil. Their 'fight' scene was freaking wonderful.

I had Aveline, Varric and (I think) one other companion pull Hawke over to the side and ask what/how things were going with Anders.  I would suspect that part is just friends checking up on the relationship.

There's a difference between asking about a friend's relationship and saying "Why are you with that ****?" He did the same thing with me and Merrill saying she would probably betray me for a demon. Its ironic considering that this happens on the quest to to build his bomb. He's accusing some one else will stab me in the back while he is currently stabbing me in the back.

I would agree except that he says something like "wouldn't you want to be with someone more...understanding?". It's pretty clear he'd like to get with Hawke.

Oh and plus I'm taking the fact that he flirts with Hawke regardless of gender if you don't pick flirt lines yourself as more evidence that he wants Hawke. He'll also say "for three years I've been lying awake at night aching for you" or something like that if/when you get with him in Act 2.

Anders and Fenris only get jealous of each other because they are like the Morrigan and Alistair of this game. Or Casavir/Bishop. Or Atton/Mical/Hand Maiden.

Fen's an ass when you deal with mages. Ugh. I can only be his friend with douche Hawke. Everyone else thinks he needs to stop damning an entire group for the actions of some who hurt him.

Fenris is the biggest douche in this game. You call Anders whiny? He has reasons, whether you agree with him or not, and they go beyond just him. They are related to a cause.

Fenris just whines about his past, and how hurt he is, blah, blah, blah, when he just needs to get over it. I did his personal quest in Act 3, and gained rivalry points for making him spare his sister's life. Unlike Shepard, Hawke is not their to solve everyone's problems, but my goody-two-shoes Hawke won't let any party member take a life because he can't get over himself.

Come to think of it, Anders is a bit of an ass, too, but some things went beyond his control.

Yes, because everyone can just get over years of being a slave, that's something that's so easy to get over.  Black people should just forget about being slaves because it wasn't a big deal they should just get over it.
