I'm going to start a new playthrough and was considering a party without Rogues (for the majority of the game at least, I'll still be forced to take a Rogue for some quests, such as the Deep Roads). The question is, will I miss a lot from not being able to pick locks?
I guess I'll lose some money, and will have to eat trap damage, but I don't think it'll be too much of a sacrifice. 90% of containers aren't locked anyway, and I don't remember any uber loot found in a locked chest.
I haven't tested it carefully, though, so I might be wrong. Thoughts?

xp losses, you can have a nasty time getting a qunari sword in the Dupoit(?) mansion without a rogue
but theres nothing important in chests

Aside from a single (minor) quest item, I can't think of anything useful I ever found in a locked chest. However, I wouldn't want to go without disarming. There are less traps in DA2 than in DAO but many of them are quite nasty, giving your party injuries or dealing significant damage in the middle of a fight. Oh, and disarming and lockpicking still grants you experience which for me s enough reason to not go without rogue ^^

Yeah, I forgot mentioning the XP, but I don't think it's that much, I don't think there are so many locks and traps for it to make a difference. I haven't had much problems with trap damage myself (ran onto a few of them), but again, I used rogues, so I disarmed everything I could.
Thing is, I was thinking about a 3 mage party, on Nightmare. For the last slot, a warrior tank seems more appropiate. So I'd have to forget about either the mage trio, or traps/locks, or go 3 mages + rogue, which seems a bit squishy. Of these options, I was leaning to the non-rogue one.

I think you will find that most of the good stuff is available without the need for a rogue, lets face it if they put everything in locked chests you would be limited in what you could find for sure.

I finished as a warrior without a rogue most of the time. There were a lot fewer locked chests (and traps) than in DA:O. You miss the "free" XP, but it worked out better on balance. Having to drag a rogue around all the time can be a drag.
