If you could tell developers of games to make sure to put one thing in games to appeal to a broader audience which includes women, what would that one thing be?A fast-forward button. Games almost always include a way to "button through" dialogue without paying attention, because they understand that some players don't enjoy listening to dialogue and they don't want to stop their fun. Yet they persist in practically coming into your living room and forcing you to play through the combats even if you're a player who only enjoys the dialogue. In a game with sufficient story to be interesting without the fighting, there is no reason on earth that you can't have a little button at the corner of the screen that you can click to skip to the end of the fighting.
No wonder Bioware games are becoming worse day by day!

So now we're referencing a comment made by a writer in an interview five years ago? This is what we're getting worried and upset about now?
Seriously, folks. I am generally fairly understanding when you guys have concerns, but this feels like you're searching for something to be outraged about.

Generally, you folks try to stay chronologically relevant!
And I mean, Jennifer's entitled to her opinion. She's a writer - her primary job is to write. For some people, they play games primarily for the story. I personally don't agree, as I feel that gameplay should serve the narrative and as such there's no reason to allow it to be 'skipped', but I can see both sides of the argument.
But I'm still waking up. So maybe I'm missing something.

If it were up to me, no one would be able to skip conversations because by god I didn't crunch 14 hours a day, seven days a week just so someone could not sit and gaze in awe at my hard work!
But I understand why it exists. Just as I understand why some people would want this kind of toggle - personally, it's not something that interests me, but that's mostly because of a gut feeling that I really can't explain properly.

Way to end a sentence with a preposition, John. I remember back when BioWare respected old school grammar rules! I guess this is just more of EA's corruption, what with all of their split infinitives and dangling participles strewn throughout their press releases.JohnEpler wrote...

For shame!
Actually, *places his teacher's hat gently upon his head*, the rule about ending a sentence with a preposition is not really relevant to the English language. It comes from Latin, due to the different way in which that language structures its sentences.
Or, as Churchill famously said, 'This is the kind of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put.'

I am not, in fact, a writer, but a cinematic designer.
The other group that is so very, very hurt when you callously skip the dialogues.

If this is going to remain a "what is a game?" discussion, i'll have to ask y'all to head to the Off-Topic forum.

since no one paid attention to my warning on page 13, i'm shutting this down as it's no longer related to DA2.
End of line.
End of line.
