I think it should've been named DA: Escape from Lothering. Rather than tagging it as a sequel.
Good:
- The graphics are much improved over DA:O
- Narative story telling. I like this style of telling the story. It is refreshingly different.
- Interface streamlining. It is much easier to get to what you need fast.
- Combat at times is fun.
- Level models - Overuse of the same level models.
- Combat, most of the time, is bland/boring except for the boss fights.
- The inventory system is very limited
- It is difficult to differentiate between the same type of items in inventory.
- Dialog is sometimes out of context or incorrect
- Most of the voice acting was merely ok. The only real exception was
- I miss the conversational interactions that DA:O had.
- There are a few funny moments and some dialog that is ok to listen to. DA2 didn't get to to sit for hours to listen to the NPCs banter back and forth. I'm sad about this.
- Bugs, the big hairy kind. They are all over the place. In dialog trees, in graphics, in the quests, in the abilities or lack of activation. This has to be the buggiest of all Bioware games.
- Graphic glitches with the addon texture pack and DX11.
- Replay ability - once you've completed it it's pretty well over.
- The world is very small and closed
- The game is very nearly linear.
- Gameplay is very repetitive, more like the grinding you do in an MMO.
Short development time = mediochre experience. The game shows it in many places.
I hope someone from EA would care, but I know better.
If you haven't purchased the game then I would wait for a discount, because it isn't worth the same price as DA:O.
