What happens if you disable tactics? I've played both Origins and Awakening but I never tried that and I was wondering how things would work... How does disabled tactics work differently from the default tactics assigned to each party member?

Then your characters will auto attack without using abilities in that tactic tree. How they will approach the combat depends on the behaviour setting for your party.

I don't know why you would want to. Disabling tactics would mean you would have to manually assign actions to all your party members. OK if you want all the micro managment, but I would prefer to use tactics where ever possible.

You can't let the AI do the action for you on i.e nightmare difficulty. Well, if you order the tactics perfectly, but default tactics is a no-no. I mean, walking bomb on any enemy? Or how about retaliation on Aveline? She get's disabled for a brief moment whenever she see's an enemy with that default tactic.

Disabling ALL tactics doesn't serve much purpose, but switching certain tactics you may not always want to use on or off depending on the battles you're fighting can be a handy approach, especially if you're the type who assigns tactics that use consumable items. Going into your tactics menu and switching a tactic on or off is more convenient than constantly re-organizing your tactics list.
