Having said all that I was actually satisfied with the difficulty of nightmare. It was much much better than DA:O. I remember checking the diff if it was on nightmare while playingthat game. At least till mid game then it kinda felt like all the challenge was coming from the new wave system and how you pretty much have to reload once every final quest fight since you dont know which wall the bad guys will materialize from. Also the dudes coming out of
the walls kinda made the game look stupid at certain points, i can understand demons/undead but those sneaky archers coming out of the walls ruined it for me. Also the grotesque carnival of misery named AI was a huge let down and a major contributor to the difficulty of nightmare. Most fights i played the game like a turn based rpg. if you let the AI do its thing you ll find your healer among 10 mobs your tank in the middle of nowhere shield walling the non incoming damage from themobs who already moved on to other targets. oh well you just micromanage more it just makes combat extremely choppy since you keep pausing every 2-3 seconds especially with a squishy group.
FinallyI'll go ahead and talk about my glorious experience with my mage. Well it felt like mage was more challenging than a warrior not sure about rogue. early game your mage gets juggled a lot since if a mob touches you, you start to fly around violently and i dont mean like fall down you literally fly so if you are close to a wall the mob will get some sweet combos on you and there is absolutely no way you can do a COMBO BREAKER., gotta bring in another guy to knock em off you but by that time you should be dead anyway. only way to get around this is to either play the tank yourself and trust that you can grab aggro on everything or just go force tree and get the 100 fortitude skill. I did both as i mentioned earlier and my mage still got aggro all the time it was amazing but i wasnt getting juggled with the force tree, Good news is you can still kite stuff till last week with the frost talents. well as long as they arent immune to frost damage then the kiting takes AWHILE. Cross class combos are kinda nice but felt like it was aimed for console audience. I mean how does a stone fist not shatter a brittle target. The talent trees were ok. i kinda resented the whole having to go into force tree so i can slack off a bit but still it was fun.
Overall i guess it is an ok game. Expectations were way too high and thats why people are raging and i cant really disagree this game is definitely not the best work of bioware but it is not as bad as people make it out to be. I still enjoyed it and im sure i will finish it will all 3 classes. However I cant help but think if they took their time and released it during the holiday season it could have been a great game but i guess they needed the money right now. Oh since we are on the subject i loved purchasing DLC the day game was released. VERY classy move indeed.
PS: the cameo appearances by the DA:O characters were very forced and unneccsary in most cases. I mean wtf was Alistair doing. you go and have like a 15 second chat with him and its over. COME ON be more creative or just leave stuff out.
PSS: some dude told me me to post this here as well.
PSSS: Play planescape torment.
