This is the DA2 version of this thread:  http://social.biowar...7/index/1012595

This is where we discuss random bits of obscure lore that only writers would possibly want to know.... complain about ff.net's frequent scitzophrenic behavior.... and beg our muses to come back or lay off, depending on the phase of the moon or whatever chapter of DA2 we're on this week.  Come obsess write with us.

Good to see this. There's a lot to discuss, lorewise and otherwise.

LOL, do we really want to bash others' works?

Especially when ours could be bashed in turn?

My understanding is that the purpose of the thread isn't to diss on the fic of others, but to commiserate with one another as writers. Probably best to keep to that.

Yeah, the title of the original thread was more tongue in cheek as in FF is a harsh mistress.

Not... free reign to bash other's works.

I shouldn’t start a DA2 fic.
I shouldn’t start a DA2 fic.
I’ve got two Origins fics.  A post-Awakenings fic.  And something like three OPs all incomplete.

And yet…
Damn you, Anders.  Quit dry humping my muse without taking off your fancy rebel mage coat with its whimsical feathered pauldrons.
Ugh, at least my indecision on names and story titles will keep me from jumping into this immediately.  It took me ages to settle on Margaret for my Amell/Anders fic.  I wanted something that had verifiable historical existence pre 1400, with multiple common diminutives (the reason for that was going to be A Thing but I eventually decided against it.  It may get a one-off line explaining how her nickname changed from before she went to the tower to after.)  God only knows how long it’ll take me to settle on a Hawke’s name since I've got specifics in mind that are easily as bizarre.

(And maybe a change of the thread title is in order… it seems like a VERY easy joke to not “get,” and since this isn’t a purely fanfic/fanart forum I can see, um, unpleasant misunderstandings)

Sorry.  I don't get to visit kmeme on the DA side all that often.

Fic is a Harsh Mistress?

See... I have a title (~hugs it close and whispers "my precious").  But Margaret may not be the Hawke I write about.  We'll see.

I loathe thinking of titles.
I may play Random Yeats Quote or something. That's always fun.

I named my in-game Hawke Maureen. Which is nice and all but the "Mo Hawke" joke doesn't really fit the story I have planned. ;)

I've exhausted my "M" names. I'm thinking "Faith" next go-round.  Since that particular vampire slayer heavily influenced Margaret's alter ego Shepard... changing her name to that might work.

ETA:  I'll entertain suggestions for the thread title till the end of my work day today (CDT 4:30PM).  I'll change it then.

I liked Elizabeth but it seemed a poor fit with Bethany. I was thinking of Anne but that's my mom's name. Helen is out for similar reasons. Catherine, maybe. I love Eleanor of Aquitaine, but I'm not fond of the name. I like Alyson but the two A names would bug me.
And really, I'm already spending TOO MUCH time on this when I'm so close to done with AOA.
Oh, and supposed to be working. That too. ;)

I havent even really started my DA:O Fic and I already have plans for the Warden to be involved in someway (He's a Mahariel Mage..... goes North to Kirkwall after the Blight to find his clan and meets the Champion briefly on their way up to Sundermount and then low and behold, sees Flemeth flying away. :-p He'll have gotten dropped off their by Isabela and begins his land journey up towards the north of Tevinter and the Anderfels before making his way to Seheron. Oh the joys of little pit stops and nods at the lore that followed the Wardens.

I have two major story arcs planned for Origins, and what am I doing?

Writing dom!Fenris/sub!MHawke smut.

I'm hopeless.

Head for the kmeme and either check for an existing fill or post a prompt!

I already have a Hawke story up.

This is why I'm not letting myself do another playthrough until Elysium is finished. Right now, I'm fairly content having gotten my templar-m!Hawke/Anders introspective angst written down. If I do another playthrough, plot bunnies might spring up and begin gnawing on my brain.

That would be bad.

I like the new title, that's clever (and fitting!).
