So... I've started a story about why one of my Hawkes is bitter despite being in a loving family and not being in anyone's shadow, and why she's on an anti-magic crusade.

I'm wondering: how did Malcolm Hawke die? The codex says he died in 9:27 Dragon due to an illness, but Bethany states in-game that he died during the Blight.

Illness due to the Blight? It could go several ways. I have seen nothing specific regarding Malcolm's cause of death.

I can't!  The Shepards need their turns!

And dammit, I still have to finish the DA:O fic!

Oh hey, this is where my people hang out! :D Is it bad form to come in and just wave one's fic in the air, do you think?

In any case, it's hard not to share - although I suppose this one is a little on the rough side. archiveofourown.org/works/175478 It's hard to get the proper amount of brooding for a Fenris fic without falling prey to emo-itis.

I don't think I'll do a Templar run for a long time. I've spent WWWAAAAYYYY too much time on the Mage side.

I couldn't resist, I had to start my DA2 fic. Leap

I love it.  Can't wait to read more. :)  What a great take on Hawke's backstory.  Thanks for sharing.

I'm writing some stuff for DA2...

In Lothering
A series of one shots about a bard turned chantry Sister, an apostate, and the future Champion of Kirkwall before the blight. Slight(very slight) Bethany/Leliana. Expect sporadic updates

I also wrote DA:O stuff... if anyone is interested...

So we're posting links to our stories now? Hey, I'm not going to pass up the chance to advertise:

Friendly Fire - Varric and Bethany killing thugs, from Varric's POV.

Diamondback Face - Hawke tries to play a game she never learned to play. That doesn't mesh well with the aggressive personality type.

Gotta get this off my chest: WOW, ff.net is royally screwed up right now. Not only is it next to impossible to post anything in the first place, I just noticed I'm receiving update notifications two DAYS after the updates post. I've seen occasional site farts before, but this is just ridonkulous!

*exhales* Thank you, I feel much better now.

It was working for a bit earlier. I was able to go in and tag characters on my new story. Not sure if it's broken again, though.

If you're not too attached to ff.net the Ao3 is a lovely alternative that's focusing on the reader and writer and tries to make both the presentation and the reading as accessible as possible.

I have my stuff there, too. But the reader base is so small I don't want to abandon ffnet completely.
I get around 20 reviews a chapter for Apostates of Amaranthine. The same fic on ao3 has four comments total. And even if ao3's mentality isnt supposed to be as focused on hits/reviews, the numbers are so crazy lopsided that I cant see leaving ffnet completely for it. I've got more unique hits on my new story I posted 2 days ago than Ive gotten on anything I've had up there for months.

I'm hoping when the allow subscriptions it'll pick up more. The site has such awesome potential but that's really an essential feature for most people.

That's entirely true. I think if they're not working on something like subscriptions yet, they will be in the future. It's very much an ongoing effort, both to provide a stable service and to make it an alternative to the more commercialised sites out there. I started out on ff.net ages ago, but switched to livejournal around the time Harry Potter was a big thing. Ao3 is the first time I'm actually considering using that sort of platform again.

That's been driving me insane too!  I posted something almost 24 hours ago, and I still haven't gotten the author alerts.  I'm having to post new stuff to Mass Effect and then hope I can change the category to DA.  I think they're implementing something new-- I noticed to delete documents, there's a nifty little popup instead of the old, almost-missable hyperlink built into the page.  Still, I'd take a functional site over that "improvement."

And while I'm ranting-- I'm glad they've got posting things to Dragon Age sort of workable again, but where's Fenris as a character?  Felsi's there, go figure.

Hell, let me linkspam too, while I'm here:

On the Turning Away: www.fanfiction.net/s/6844123/1/On_the_Turning_Away
My guess as to why Fenris left.

Coming Back to Life: www.fanfiction.net/s/6858352/1/Coming_Back_to_Life
And his return.

I have major work deadlines in three languages and a six book series well into the writing stage, so of course, what did I do yesterday when there was a drabble challenge in the LiveJournal DA community?

Fanfiction is the crack of writing, cheap, easy, and addictive. Eight drabbles later now I'm struggling not to give into the urge to write epic length fanfic. Again. No fanfiction, bad Jade.

LOL, like the thread says, it's a hard Tevinter Magister.

So, question for the thread.... Should I start collecting everyone's fic in the OP, or are we fine with just the individual posts?

The op would be a good idea, I think

We could go ahead and format the submissions ourselves, so all you'd need to do is copy them and paste them into the first post like you just copied your blurb. For example:

Maps & Legends  (Links: FF.Net)
Author: SurelyForth
Length and Status: Long - ongoing
Explicit Content: Y (language, violence, sexual content)
Story Elements: Drama, Humor, Romance
Kirkwall was never a place Wilhelmina Hawke wanted to call home, but
there's a slight chance it might be better than running. Emphasis on
slight
.

That might be easiest.

Shameless self-promotion? I can do that. ^_^

Little Pieces (Links: FF.Net)
Author: Aeryn Phoenix
Length and Status: Long as a whole, but each story is fairly short - ongoing
Explicit Content: Y (violence, blood, sexual content, drunken carousing, Rated M)
Story Elements: Romance, Angst, Drama, Humor
Synopsis:
A mess of one shots all based around the romance between Lady Hawke and Fenris. No cohesive plot and no fixed PC, just bits and pieces that struck me as I played through the game far too many times.

Someone tell me to stop writing the fic in which Hawke and his merry band of misfits pick up a couple of mage kids after the Gallows goes pretty much splodey... just imagine Fenris and this little mage girl looking up at him with huge, innocent eyes of adorableness...
