I've seen a lot of negativity about the game. I feel it myself when I play the game. And there are those who raise it up as the way RPG's should be, with an excellent storyline.
Of course, those who are negative are usually more vocal about their dissapointments than those who are satisfied.
Still, even with that in mind, the negativity is overwhelming, not just on the boards, but from friends who play the game.

But I'm not going to write about any faults of tha game, but rather I want to ask: "Did you expect anything else, Bioware?"

A lot of people seem to not be able to handle any negativity and join the bioware choir saying the the critics just isn't ready for this "change for the better", which is exactly what Mike Laidlaw says when defending DA2 in an interview.
And in the same interview he seems like he thought the game would get a 9+ score. Really, Mike?

You made a game, it was called Dragon Age: Origins. It may not have reached as big an audience as you wanted, but it did reach. Is that not enough? I do not know the numbers of who many finished the game, but is world domination really that important? We know how that usually ends.

And yet it seems they DID want a game that would cater to everyone, and consequently they dicided to change the game. Change can be a good thing. But when buying a car, I expect it to have wheels on. Well, with the obvious railroading in the game, I guess it does have wheels, bad example, sorry.

Now, what happens when you make a game and change it too much from what might have been expected?
You end up with a game that has to stand on it's own legs AND meet the criticism of those who expected something else,  AS WELL as a completely new segment that didn't play/like Origins.

I don't hate the game, but am I dissapointed? Yes. And no, Mike, I'm not afraid of change.
I actually like the combat, although the "Enemy Wave" thing could be scrapped and done differently.
I really don't care about the lack of tactical zoom, I never used it in Origins anyways. If I could zoom in while playing BG2 I would do that as well :)
I love the graphics. Would have liked more variety and logic for dungeons. Entering the same door for the fourth time but it's supposedly a completely different place. Happens a couple of time during side questing. Should be enough doors in the game to give them separate entrances right?
Dialogue Wheel. Hmm.. I don't hate it, but it could have been done better.
I like all kinds of genres, except for FPS and sports, although I prefer RPGs.

I did not expect a DAO2. I'm not a regular poster on any boards, but I had read enough to know it would be different. Unfortunatly, DA2 wasn't given enough time on the development board. I was unhappy with the game. Your fault, not mine. You tried to change and have seemingly managed to cater to some, but now you end with having dissappointed others instead.

There is no game formula that everyone will like. and taking a story-heavy franchise and changing it obviously has very big risks.
