Nope. You're not special.
I don't care either. I will dual wield regardless.

But since this thread is about dps(dmg per sec) i would assume that warrior class is capable of the best damage. again its a close call between 2-handed and dual-wield types. strength is gonna decide what weapons a DW warrior will use.

However, it isn't quite as percise as a good sword stroke.

If you're into RPG math then get the Dragon Age RPG ... chances are good, both systems use the same combat math ...

But according to Dragon Age Journeys it seems two-handed swords edge out a couple more damage a hit then Axes and the hit rate seems even. The only noticeable difference between the two besides looks and a few damage, swords being the higher, was the stats that tend to come with each. Axes seem much more likely to come with a +to critical chance.
Now all that being said I think later in the game Dual-weilding two full-sized weapons will equal the most damage with the proper Dual-weilding spec of course. The talent block seems to focus on many attacks and increased damage.
classic RPGs have handled the situation a few different ways to balance two-handed vs. dual-weilding, like for instance they would make a one-handed longsword deal 8 damage, and it's two-handed equivalent deal 16 damage. That way if you dual-weild or use a 2-hander the damage is roughly the same. If Bioware sticks with the DAJ formula though which is one-handers of the same tier seem to be 2/3s the strength of a two-hander, like for instance a tier 2 greataxe will clock in at 36 damage and it's one-handed axe version will be 24. Therefore dual-weilding two full-sized weapons in DAJ and possibly DA:O will see a damage increase over two-handers by 1/3 or 33%. That number will probably increase with the talents figured in.
But two-handers in Dragon Age play a much bigger role, they seem to be a great crowd control weapon, always stunning, slowwing, or knocking your enemies silly while managing to deal out powerful hits.
So early in the game Two-handers will rule the field, but by mid-to-late game expect a proficient dual-weilder to take the mantle.
But as stated above two-handers have their advantages as well, so it really comes down to a matter of preference, which is I'm sure what Bioware intended all along.
