but morrigan is such a babe, where as wynne is old and ugly. you can buy a book to get morrigan to be a healer so then the amount of sexiness grows exponentially!

Where and what is this book in which you speak of? I would rather use Morrigan than the old one.

Hey, now.   Don't sell Wynne short in that department.  Some men like a more experienced woman.  Just ask Zevran.  Seriously.  If you haven't seen the Wynne / Zevran banter you are really missing out.  :D

Actually I did manage (inadvertently) to side with the templars and retain Wynne. I just forgot to use the litany of whatever when fighting Uldred... :/

I did this last night, and it saves for you automatically, I made the desicion to kill 'em all and she turned on me...so I reloaded and made the "right" decision.

I am scared to go through without a dedicated healer.

Wait, murdering the surviving mages, including Wynne, is a mercy killing and necessary to prevent further Abominations, but keeping Morrigan around is a good idea? O_o

nope, killing the whiny caged pets of the chantry is fun.  The abominations just provide the propoganda cover.  Hmm what branch of the maker cult to wipe out next...

I like Morrigan as a character- but she was the face of the game and had story based significance.

I believe that Wynne has become my favorite female NPC of all time because..well she seems real and believable. I mean a mage is perhaps the type of character that needs the most suspension of disbelief, but she seemed real. She is honest, she is kind and around the right companions- she is funny. Zevran and Wynne were just...something else.

For a PC who just watched her mum die, Wynne was the perfect mother substitute.

Some folks like to play psycho kill everything sorts- and maybe Wynne does not fit in those plans. But for the folks who played somewhat sane PCs she was kindly and very useful in a fight. I did not experience even one casualty in the game and Wynne is almost completely responsible for that. Each time I didn't take her along- like to trigger plot quests or for party banter alone- I regretted it.

I believe you get it from the Wonders of Thedas store after the Landsmeet.

Try Nightmare. I love healers on nightmare. Also glyph of repulsion, mind blast, paralyze, cone of cold, force field, hexes help too. Horror, sleep, death spells...

Or it's just that spirit keeping Wynne alive that is playing tricks on you, pretending to be a nice elderly lady, all the while plotting to eventually get an advisor's post at the royal court or somesuch...

I should elaborate my words, on Morrigan I think as a character she is interesting and worth interacting with. But based on how I play and the actions I take she is just too self serving and duplicitous to fit my style and modus operandi.

Further as a plot device she is a tool, she is being used by Flemmeth and for all her talk of freedom and her chastisements of the Circle she is confined in her own prison of her mother’s making. She is no more free than they are; her cage just seems more gilded. It adds another layer to her character.

Back to Wynne: she was my mother figure in my first play through but also a sensible and well rounded person who is very entertaining and quite focused on her goals. She is selfless and dutiful and as a player I find those traits admirable; as an aside I find playing evil/selfish characters very difficult and ultimately uncomfortable. I had to force myself through a renegade play through of Mass Effect.

I really like Wynne, attractiveness aside; I guess if I chose my companions based on hot factor my opinion may be different but then again I find Leliana to be more attractive and more compatible with my tastes. Must be that red hair, but in all seriousness I find the hate for Wynne to be amusing but understandable especially if you prefer Morrigan or a more selfish/malicious character and don’t want her nagging at you.

Healers are  over rated. Crowd Control > heals in this game. I beat my first play through with no healer on normal and used maybe 60 health potions total. (lesser-potent). Though to be honest I didnt do a lot of sidequests. I didn't even have to buy potions at that number. My next play through with a healer was easily the most painful experience ever. ( My group was almost morrigan/myself 2hander/ alistar/ Dog

Blizzard / Cone of cold easily the most over powered spells in the game.

Also many of the forth tier spells I find worthless compared to many 1-3rd tier spells. Force field is wonderful for locking down tougher enemies while glyphs help in many fights. Cone of cold is a very nice spell. Mass paralyses followed by fireballs helps take down archers quickly. Force field tougher enemies. Glyph of repulsion is hilarious. Watching enemies fly through the air and charge again never gets boring.

Hehe I remember the first time I encountered Glyph of Repulsion was the enemy using it on me. Fun times. :)

Crowd control is so totally more useful than healing. You can beat the game with just 1 mage and the heal spell if desired. With two mages in a party both with just the heal spell you're fine. The amount of mobs two mages can lockdown is frightening.

That being said, the amount of flexibility just having heal, group heal & revive gives is also undeniable.

It really boils down to your play style really. Still given a choice I much prefer using that glyph of healing to save someone from being dragon chomped to death vs force fielding them. So healing is useful but unless you are on far higher difficulties far from mandatory.

I found morrigon the polar opposite of my character and thus I benched her.

Wynne I saw as a sorta grandmother figure, and more attune to my choices and play style.

I also made Wynne a Aracane Warrior, so now she is a healer in plate.. :) there dieing doesn't happen as often now.

I hate wynne, I'd slit her throat on toss her into a ditch if I didn't near more mage power in my group. I really wish I could have recruited jowan in or some other mage that was either apathetic or agreed with something I would do.

Is this 'Wynne'?

My Wynne has in addition to all the Spirit Healer Spells and healing tree spells: fireball, inferno, crushing prison + petrify. Add in her stonefist to help shatter the frozen mobs and she is a hell of a utility player. Heals, CC + some DPS.

And to top that all off, Wynne conjurs up hot-baked chocatate chip cookies and milk for me after every fight!

I like Wynne, but wish she wasn't so stereotypical. An older matronly woman who talks as if she's on a mountain top--how original! All the age-related dialogue options are cringeworthy too.

How many women actually like Morrigan?

Either way Wynne was good to keep around, but Morrigans' hottness, her little side comments and running dialogue with Allistair kept her in my party.

I'm doing mage next playthrough. Bet your ass that Wynne gets the bench or murdered (no way she can even hope to fight me) I haven't done th Circle quest yet. Her morale values and uppity attitude interfere with my mission to defeat the Darkspawn.

Honestly on my first playthrough as a mage I found Morrigan and Wynne to be like the little Devil and Angel sitting on my mage's shoulders. I like both Morrigan and Wynne and in the end their influences had my mage being able to walk the fine line between the two and kept almost everyone happy while at the same time being an "evil" blood mage :-P
